Takida formed in 1999. With their first couple of demo recordings things got going organically as they started to spread in their home regions, and slowly but surely the reputation reached the rest of the country. With a record deal secured, the debut album “Make You Breathe” was released in 2006, which in short put them in a spot as one of the biggest up and coming rock acts in Sweden.With extensive touring, the band gradually built a large live audience. In 2007, the quintet got their well-deserved breakthrough with the single “Curly Sue”. The song sold 10x platinum and broke records by placing 54 weeks on Svensktoppen. Since then, radio successes have been constant with songs such as “Handlake Village”, “The Things We Owe” and “You Learn”, with which Takida has established themselves as one of the most played bands on Swedish radio during the 2000s. Takida have secured no less than five #1 albums on the Swedish chart, becoming one of the best-selling bands in Sweden.In 2018, the international career took off when joining forces with BMG. With the singles “Master” and “What About Me?” from the critically acclaimed album “Sju”, came their breakthrough in the German market. “Master” proved to be one of Takida’s greatest radio successes of all time, reaching #1 on both Svensktoppen and German rock radio charts, #122 on German mainstream radio charts, while the album reached #29 on German album charts.

In the modern world of Rock music there are acts that simply standout in the crowd, and Sweden’s tAKiDA one of them. Formed twenty-five years ago, the name may not be too well-known to an international audience, but within Sweden, tAKiDA has dominated the Rock scene for quite some time now. In fact, they have earned six platinum singles (one which went four times platinum), three platinum selling albums, as well as five #1 albums.Very impressive, it has to leave those who know little about the band curious – What is all the buzz about? Well, in truth tAKiDA are really quite diverse in many regards.Mixing Hard Rock, some dark Metal, Pop Rock, their discography since 2006 has been varied. With that, the guitars (Tomas Wallin and Mattias Larsson) are gritty and melodic, even with elements of retro Metal amidst the riffs, as well with some stunning guitar solos.This is while the keyboards (Chris Rehn) are beautifully placed for a richer atmosphere of gloom; either when above or beneath the distorted guitars. Beyond these attributes, Robert Pettersson vocals sound more haunting than ever before. This time around he showcases deep sorrow, moments of aggression, and everything in-between. In enough words, it could be his best vocal performance to date on any studio album just because of how deeply felt the emotion is within each word sung.Outlining this, we are led to the glue that brings this all together… the production at the hands of Rehn and Pettersson. Nothing less than flawless, the subtle aspects of each song shines; and this includes everything from the various layering of vocals, to the instrumental textures.
