Bio:

Accept is a German heavy metal band from the town of Solingen, originally assembled by former vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and bassist Peter Baltes. Their beginnings can be traced back to the late 1960s. The band played an important role in the development of speed metal, being part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s.Following their disbandment in 1997 and short-lived reunion in 2005, Accept reunited again in 2009 with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider and released their two highest charting albums to date, Blood of the Nations and Stalingrad. They have sold over 17 million albums worldwide

Album:

AFM Records has just released updated, remastered versions of German metal legends ACCEPT early albums (including bonus tracks) in a series titled 'Platinum Edition'."Breaker" was the first Accept album engineered by Michael Wagener, the man who shaped their sound for world-wide success.Recorded at Delta Studios in Wilster, Germany over the cold Winter months of December 1980 through January 1981, they would forge the songs that would make up "Breaker".Released on March 16, 1981, this cult classic album was one of the ones to pave the way for the band as it was Accept’s groundbreaker in terms of them finding their sound, the sound that would take them to full notoriety with their follow up efforts."Breaker" also got the attention of the metal fans enough to get them a spot opening up for Judas Priest on part of their World Wide Blitz tour in 1981. This would be the first time that the band would get to play outside of Europe. The first track to start it off is “Starlight.” The song literally winds its way up to full blast, then Dirkschneider rips in with his Heavy Metal rasp. It is a fast and furious song with strong dueling guitars soloing frantically away.Next up is the title track, “Breaker.” It is the shortest song on the album, but with an even faster pace than the first song. This song easily defines Accept’s role in the Speed Metal sub-genre.“Run If You Can” has a repetitive energy to it. Dirkschneider digs to deep places to deliver the lyrics, with serious dueling guitars and strong double base throughout. Then comes the longest running song on this album, “Can’t Stand the Night”, a midtempo semi-ballad.But ending side one is the high energy and aggressive “Son of a Bitch.” The title of the song speaks to its explicit lyrics and has Dirkschneider yelling and growling angrily at times throughout the song.“Burning” kicks in with strumming guitars floating over the heavy beat that carries the song the rest of the way through. More hard rocking than metal, the next song, “Feelings,” has deep, thick drums and bass to hold the track on the ground while Dirkschneider belts out his vocals.Next is the song on the record that has the most commercial feel, “Midnight Highway.” It is a fast, fun party song, but still rocks hard and treats fans to a nice dueling guitar solo towards the end of it. This is also the first track to feature Baltes on vocals during the bridge of the song.Follower “Breaking Up Again” has Baltes doing all the vocals on it. It's an acoustic ballad, a classic song in this time period for a metal band. Though mostly acoustic, the drums and electric guitars kick in with a very mellow guitar solo in the midway part of the song. It serves the listener up with beautiful guitar playing along with perfect drums and bass to accompany them.Kicking it back up to full gear is the final track on the album, “Down and Out.” Starting off with heavy-hitting drums, Dirkschneider takes over and this album ends on a high, metal rampage, complete with classic screaming guitar solos by Hoffmann and Fischer. The bonuses are incendiary live takes on title track "Breaker" and "Midnight Highway", far heavier than the studio versions."Breaker" album cover art depicts a young woman who looks like she is ready to step into a Discotheque, but is somehow subjected to the Heavy Metal sound of Accept’s new album. She is seen open-mouthed, with barbed wire piercing through her head via her ears. A typical, fun artwork from the era."Breaker" still remains to be an adored piece of classic metal history by Accept fans more than thirty years later. These Platinum Edition re-issues will only be available in North and South America, Asia, Russia, Turkey and the Baltic Countries.

Album:

AFM Records has just released updated, remastered versions of German metal legends ACCEPT early albums (including bonus tracks) in a series titled 'Platinum Edition'.For many, "Restless And Wild" is the best album from their career, and for sure the one which put Accept on the map world-wide.This particular album marked a major turning point in Accept's career. They had released 3 albums up to this point, but this one, "Restless And Wild" was the first to receive global distribution that included North America. While the previous records had a strong Scorpions sound & style influences (Breaker showed a slightly different and more harder edge), with "Restless And Wild" Accept found their very own sound. On "Restless And Wild" Accept chose to move in an even heavier direction, using a more Judas Priest style with a sharp double guitar attack and created a little masterpiece full of classic metal anthems.Indeed, the band takes the classic '80s metal music into new depths of speed and insanity, while its songs display an astonishing balance between aggression and melody. And said balance made this album one of the most referred influences for many sub-genres to come in the second half of the decade and even the '90s.The opening of this album is, quite simply, one of the best intro to any metal album ever. It begins with an old scratchy 78 rpm record of a German folk tune complete with the obligatory accordion. After about 10 seconds, you hear the sound of someone ripping the needle off of the record followed by a blood-curdling scream by Udo Dirkschneider. The guitars come crashing in and when the drums join the fray, you're listening to one of the fastest, meanest Heavy Metal tunes I'd ever heard in my life up to that point.Titled 'Fast As A Shark', this is one of the most revered, classic Accept tunes of all time and has been covered by numerous bands. While you're catching your breath, the fast gallop of the title track 'Restless And Wild' kicks in. Udo once again delivers a vocal performance that sounds like he swallowed broken glass. This track uses the classic "gang style vocals" that this band soon became known for and once again, delivers another metal masterpiece. The first time I heard these 2 songs, with the combination of a guitar sound that was pure classic metal (Gibson Flying V guitars through stacks of Marshall amps that sound like they're ready to explode) and Udo's voice, I knew I was listening to some of the heaviest rock I had ever heard. The rest of the album continues in the same primo classic melodic metal quality.'Ahead Of The Pack' has a very chunky heavy and driving tempo, however starts in a stunning mid-pace vein - Accept's trademark - that became widely used during the '80s at both sides of the ocean.'Shake Your Heads' is an anthem very much like United or Take On The World by Judas Priest. There's a pounding double bass drum riff to propel the song and features a killer riffing by Wolf Hoffmann (guitarist Herman Frank is credited, but didn't actually perform on the recording). You can just picture the crowd headbanging in unison to this song in concert.'Neon Nights' is about as close to a power ballad as you get on this album. It starts with a nasty guitar passage by Wolf in which he uses a phaser and octave divider. It plows into the main riff and the chorus features some more melodic (?) vocals by Udo. This band, despite it's muscular sound, really did pay attention to song arrangements and melodies, not just the smashing riffs.'Get Ready' is a more fun, rollicking, bluesy hard rock type number and lightens things up a bit. The next track, 'Demon's Night', is another classic and starts with a slow bouncy heavy feel with thick guitar riffs which then speeds up for the chorus. Then 'Flash Rockin' Man' is a kick-ass metal tune that maintains a fast driving tempo and the way that it flows into the great crunchy heavy interlude after the second chorus is nothing short of heavy metal genius. The album closer, 'Princess Of The Dawn' is another Accept classic that was always a concert favorite. It's not a particularly heavy tune, whith that typical Accept slower hypnotic pace, orchestration and awesome vocal delivery by Udo, creating a mood that's felt throughout the entire song. The ending of this track is truly amazing. Wolf Hoffmann plays a flurry of leads which take on more of a classical music tone to them with the style and use of minor keys, something that the band became known for.Indeed, throughout "Restless And Wild", Wolf Hoffmann defined the Euro melodic metal lead guitar sound of the first half of the '80s: crafty, melodic and heroic. This is a very effective way to draw more attention to the leads and also to break up the songs a little bit for more balance and effectiveness.Udo is at the top of his game (for many his greatest recording ever), and the rhythm section is a blast, clear and powerful. The bottom line here is that this, like its successor Balls To The Wall, is an essential classic metal album, and any fan worth his salt should own them both. These Platinum Edition re-issues will only be available in North and South America, Asia, Russia, Turkey and the Baltic Countries.

Album:

Heavy metal pioneers Accept are back in the game with a new studio album! The record, entitled "The Rise Of Chaos", will be unleashed on August 4, 2017. The band’s 4th studio release through Nuclear Blast will continue the tradition of its three predecessors, "Blood Of The Nations", "Stalingrad" and "Blind Rage", with grandeur and precision.Today, the band has unveiled the cover artwork of the new record, which was created by Gyula Havancsák (Grave Digger, Destruction)."The Rise Of Chaos" is something I have been thinking about often. Wherever we go, there is some hidden as well as some visible destruction and it kind of changes the world we know. What was there today, can be gone tomorrow and it’s kind of irritating, because it happens on so many levels and no one knows what comes next. The cover is our last stage set, but now clearly destroyed, like after a catastrophe", explains Wolf Hoffmann. And if this wasn’t enough, Accept will celebrate the album’s live premiere exclusively on August 3, on the day before its release, as part of a special show at Wacken Open Air, Germany. The set will consist of three parts, which represent the band’s creative power. Part 1 will bring fans a classic Accept set, packed with new and old hits. Part 2 will present another premiere: Wolf Hoffmann will be playing tracks from his solo album "Headbangers Symphony", released in 2016, with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra for the very first time. On this record, Wolf has covered famous opuses by composers such as Beethoven, Vivaldi and Mozart, in a metal guise. And in part 3, all elements can be seen and heard together: Accept will make the holy Wacken ground shake by sharing the stage with the orchestra, supported by a complex multimedia show. This unique concert experience will take place on this year’s "Night To Remember" which makes it even more special. "Night To Remember" is a celebrated, long-lasting Wacken tradition; for one night of the festival a selection of established bands will do something unique and special with their performance.Wolf Hoffmann stated: “It’s always impressive to see how bands take this evening seriously and how much love the artists and the organising team put into their work to get a varied result. It’s a great tradition which underlines and documents the top-notch level of the international rock community like nothing else. We also want to present something that Accept has never done before, we hope we can give something really special to the fans.”“Accept has been and is still a very important part of Germany’s heavy metal scene. We’re really looking forward to having them with us once more. With this epic concept, the Thursday evening will be one to remember for sure”, stated Thomas Jensen, organiser of Wacken Open Air.

Album:

Universal Music Germany has just reissued ACCEPT's "Hungry Years - Remixed". After the success of the band's album 'Balls To The Wall' and their entry into the American market with 'Metal Heart', Accept and their recording label agreed to make a compilation of their early catalog, at the time unreleased in the US.But according to times (1986), these songs needed a 'second half of the '80s feel', a more polished sound, so they remixed the whole thing.Short and to the point, "Hungry Years" includes some of the best selections from Accept's early catalog, including the LP's "I'm a Rebel", "Breaker", and the metal classic "Restless and Wild". Rightfully, nothing is selected from the band's eponymous 1979 debut. All three songs culled from "Restless And Wild - including the title track, "Princess of the Dawn", and "Fast as a Shark" - are career highlights for Accept, not just the early era covered on "Hungry Years".The tracks taken from the other two albums are among the best each have to offer, such as "The King" and "Midnight Highway. In short, on "Hungry Years - Remixed" these Accept first half of the '80s songs were remixed to make it sound second half of the '80s.You know, there's a lot of reverb added to the snare drum, phaser y delays here and there to appeal the US hard rock fans. It's fun to listen to, as example, the song 'Fast As a Shark' sounding more 'glossy' and Udo's vocals 'soften', almost melodic, and a track delay-end different from the original. If Accept's early albums always sounded too much 'European & metallic' to your years, you need to check out "Hungry Years - Remixed". All these remixes turned the songs pretty Americanized circa 1985-86.

Album:

German / American metal legends ACCEPT will release a live set, "Symphonic Terror - Live At Wacken 2017", on November 23 via Nuclear Blast. Fans can expect a unique Accept show, recorded last year at the legendary Wacken Open Air festival, where the band played the biggest and most extraordinary show of its career in front of 80,000, on top of thousands more fans watching via a live stream. The two-hour concert was divided into three parts showing the full creative power of Accept: the first part featured the premiere of new tracks "Die By The Sword" and "Koolaid", as well as some of the band's most popular songs, such as "Restless And Wild" and "Pandemic".The middle part featured guitarist Wolf Hoffmann accompanied by a symphony orchestra, presenting the best tracks from his recent solo album, "Headbangers Symphony", which includes metal versions of some of the world's biggest classical compositions (e.g. from Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi). And in the last but not least part, fans were able to bang their heads to Accept anthems (also accompanied by the orchestra), such as "Princess Of The Dawn", "Breaker", "Fast As A Shark" and "Metal Heart", as well as to newer songs like "Stalingrad", "Shadow Soldiers" and "Teutonic Terror".The finale is an eight-minute version of the classic "Balls To The Walls" full of fire.Presenting the show / album recording in this format is ambitious and certainly a gamble, especially for Wolf Hoffmann delivering his classical material, and even more so via a full blown 50-piece orchestra at metal’s mecca renowned for its slogan of ‘faster, louder, harder’, suffice to say that on home ground and what must also be said, nothing short of a blinding performance by both band and orchestra, it’s remarkably pulled off putting Accept back on the world map via this monumental package that captures the spectacle in all its splendour, gargantuan sound and most of all, atmosphere. As a longtime fan who follow the band since the '80s, needless to say it’s that third section that’s enthusiasm me the most. Kudos has to be given to Mark Tornillo who has come a long way, and on certain tracks like the mighty ‘Stalingrad’ comes pretty damn close to actually sounding like Accept’s legendary vocalist. However, in other places like on ‘Shadow Soldiers’ and a truly epic ‘Dying Breed’ he delivers a masterful performance in his own right. The orchestra, for their part, prove their worth in actually enhancing pure metallic tracks like ‘Fast As A Shark’ and ‘Metal Heart’ by carefully adding emotional depth and peripheral dramatics where needed but without interfering with the actual formula of the songs, thus making these versions truly worthy of sitting in any Accept fan’s collection.Long a dream of Hoffmann to combine the two elements of metal and classical, “Symphonic Terror – Live At Wacken 2017” must have gone well beyond a highlight performance in the band’s career to one of tremendous personal gratification and as a fan, the man and his band (along with the orchestra) have done us proud.

Accept is a German heavy metal band from the town of Solingen, originally assembled by former vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and bassist Peter Baltes. Their beginnings can be traced back to the late 1960s. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider and released their two highest charting albums to date, Blood of the Nations and Stalingrad. They have sold over 17 million albums worldwide

Album:

When metal titans ACCEPT returned to the stage in 2009, nobody knew that this reunion would also lead to a union of older and younger metal generations, nor that guitar matador Wolf Hoffmann and his fellows were just starting the most successful chapter of their band's history. After nearly seven years, countless live sensations and three successful studio albums (with Blind Rage even achieving #1 in the official German charts) it is time: ACCEPT have bundled the energy, the rage and the thunderstorm of their 40-year career into a new live, double album titled "Restless And Live", for the first time since their comeback."Restless And Live" captures Accept all over Europe, delivering energetic performances in each recording. The set begins with “Stampede” from the band’s 2014 ‘Blind Rage’ album. The intro and first few riffs sound out into the night and already I feel like I’m part of the audience. Audio wise, the sound quality is clean, clear and punchy as Hell. We get a few songs in and “London Leather Boys” is up. This song, from the iconic ‘Balls to the Wall’ is legendary and I resist the urge to jump on and start head banging.Frontman Mark Tornillo is in top form with his voice being greatly mixed to stand aside the guitar riffs which are monstrous. Then comes the hat tip to the legends of metal in “Dying Breed”, followed by “The Final Journey” – complete with guitarist Wolf Hoffmann‘s classical solo, which incorporates composer Edvard Grieg’s Morning Mood from Grieg’s opera ‘Peer Gynt 23’ towards the end of the song. While this is on the studio album and not a surprise, hearing it live invokes a new energy from the crowd as Hoffmann grins his way through the solo.Heading back in time, the boys bring the epic “Losers and Winners” to the crowd. It’s one of my favourite songs off ‘Balls to the Wall’, and just sounds amazing live.Half way through “No Shelter”, Hoffmann and bassist Peter Baltes take to the front of scene and have an awesome duel. A few more songs in and “Dark Side of my Heart” appears on the set list. It is a highlight for me on Blind Rage, with its snappy riffs and rhythm, and listening to the band perform this live is a real treat.Of course there's the classics such as "Metal Heart", "Restless and Wild" and "Balls to the Wall", all done awith a rejuvenated fire.Accept's "Restless And Live" really rocks, capturing a band in a full blast. All from founder members Hoffmann / Peter Baltes, the seasoned Mark Tornillo and the new, young guys in the band Christopher Williams and Uwe Lulis perfectly mesh together, resulting in a killer live record.Everything about the performances is excellent. It has a good balance of old and new material and the band are obviously enjoying themselves in front of the crowd. In terms of sound, it's one of the best metal live recordings from the last 25 years.Next January 13th go an get "Restless And Live" and crank it to 11. There's a DVD / Blu-ray version as well.

Album:

Accept is back! The German kingpins of heavy metal will release their new, eagerly awaited studio album via Nuclear Blast. The ingenious title of the masterpiece is "Too Mean To Die". Special circumstances often lead to very special albums. This is certainly true for "Too Mean To Die", which of course alludes to the Corona period, although in a different way than one might assume. The title track is a classic Accept cracker: dynamic and unwavering, turned up to eleven! "Zombie Apocalypse", also relentless and hard, strikes the same note in the band's signature style. The first single, titled "The Undertaker", is different as it is a terrific mid-tempo track with great vocals and a built-in character that chugs along, certain to deliver some memorable live moments! According to Wolf Hoffmann, it's one of the most catchy, pleasing pieces of the album. Just how varied the Accept guitar trio performs on the new album is proven by one of the secret highlights: "The Best Is Yet To Come", a beguiling ballad in which Mark Tornillo is at his best. The metal world knows that Mark can scream like no other, but here it shows once again that the frontman can also sing magnificently. There's no doubt that with "Too Mean To Die", Accept is once again playing at the top of the Champions League of the genre. Wolf Hoffmann & co. present the (music) world eleven masterpieces at the beginning of 2021 - eleven songs for eternity!

Album:

Japan remastered album with bonus track. After conquering the rock world with their own teutonic brand of melodic heavy metal in the '80s with 'Balls To The Wall' and 'Metal Heart', Accept parted ways with original singer Udo Dirkschneider following the release of 1986's 'Russian Roulette'.Dirkschneider decided to embark on what would become a largely successful solo career, marking the final album to feature Accept’s original frontman until this 1993’s "Objection Overruled".Accept was put on hold by the core duo of Peter Baltes (bass) and Wolf Hoffmann (guitar) in 1990, and it took 3 years to all members to reconnect again. Udo Dirkschneider also agreed to team up once more under the Accept banner and this time, unusually, as a one guitar quartet."Objection Overruled" was the result and at the time the Rock press seemed pretty nonplussed by an album that was accused of being Accept by numbers.Yet listening to the likes of "Bulletproof", "Slaves To Metal", the title track and especially "I Don't Wanna Be Like You" afresh, there's no denying the criticism was harsh. Yes, the musical climate was different in '93, but man, these songs a great. And pure classic Accept."Objection Overruled" did exactly what was intended, by announcing that Accept were not only back, but back as we knew them – leaders of the European metallic hard rock scene and the inspiration for a whole host of classically inclined heavies. How much any of Hoffmann's guitar partners contributed to Accept as a studio outfit was always something open to question, so there was no noticeable difference to him working alone on the album. Hence the riffs are as big and thick as anything experienced on Balls To The Wall, Metal Heart or Breaker, while Udo had lost none of his authoritative bark.Baltes and Kaufmann were also fired up, the drums positively batter ramming their way into your head, while the bass thrummed with a serious, threatening intensity.Admittedly the slower "Amamos La Vida" may prove an acquired taste, yet for those who buy into Udo's strangely seductive, if unsteady, clean delivery, will find a song of real passion and heart. However it is the foot to the floor riff-a-rolla that will get most frothing, with "Sick, Dirty And Mean" and the awesome "This One's For You" prime examples of the sound for which this band are so renowned. This HNE / Cherry Red reissue unfortunately adds nothing in the way of bonuses, however a skilled remaster from Andy Pearce brings extra bite, while liner notes by respected Rock scribe Malcolm Dome featuring retrospective thoughts from both Hoffmann and Kaufmann add value."Objection Overruled" was a criminally underrated and iniquity criticized at its time, but it's a great rockin' album featuring some killer songs. If you were in 1993 with your musical tastes somewhere else or you listened to the criticism of the time and have as a result always dismissed this album, you really should do yourself a favour and right that wrong as soon as possible.

Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider and released their two highest charting albums to date, Blood of the Nations and Stalingrad. They have sold over 17 million albums worldwide

Album:

Eat the Heat is the eighth studio album by German heavy metal band Accept, released in 1989. It was recorded at Dierks Studios in Cologne from September 1988 to January 1989. Although Jim Stacey is presented as rhythm guitar player in the album line-up, the album credits also state that all guitar work on the album was played by Wolf Hoffmann. Stacey did perform second guitar live with the band. Until 2010's Blood of the Nations, this was Accept's only album without Udo Dirkschneider as lead vocalist. U.D.O. contributes with crowd vocals on "Turn the Wheel". U.D.O. has also covered the song "X-T-C" on the 2001 compilation A Tribute to Accept II. Accept later recorded "Generation Clash II" based on "Generation Clash" with Udo Dirkschneider on vocals for their 1994 album Death Row. U.D.O. will still regularly perform tracks from this album, including "X-T-C".When the band decides to change it's musical direction to more softer direction, the sight is not usually pretty. When Udo left Accept and formed his own solo unit U.D.O, the general opinion was that both parties will suffer. Especially when Udo told rumors that Accept was going to change their style to Bon Jovi direction. It's true that Accept has gone to more American direction, but it's still heavy. Many people will pass this album because of the new vocalist. For some people, disbanding the band would be a better option than getting a new vocalist. After a brief period of Rob Armitage as a singer, Accept hired the unknown american singer named David Reece. Reece's vocal range places somewhere between AC/DC's Brian Johnson and Maiden's Bruce Dickinson. Reece trying to be Udo is a doomed idea, but he doesn't even try to be like Udo. He has his own style, which is actually good. Guitarist Jörg Fischer has also being replaced, by american Jim Stacey. The rest of the line-up is normal (Hoffman, Baltes, Kaufmann). It seems that different versions of the album have different covers and different song lists. This review tells about the version what I have. The album doesn't even look like it's from Accept. There's a band posing on the cover, and macho-Reece lying at the band's feet. The album starts with quiet guitar, which can't be even thought from the band like Accept. Then the band starts it's engine with the crushing "X-T-C". "X-T-C" reveals that the band has some totally new energy. Reece appears to be a good singer. He fits to Accept's new direction. Next song has bass driven intro, just like "Head over Heels". Song's name is "Generation clash". "Generation clash" is a pure Accept classic. Riff is awesome! "Chain reaction" isn't so good, it's too ordinary heavy song, but it's faster than two previous ones. "Love sensation" sounds like it's a power ballad, and it is. It isn't too sweet, because Reece's voice isn't fit for ballads, just like Udo's. "Turn the wheel is basic, american heavy-influenced heavy song. It gets sometimes quiet, only for getting loud again."Prisoner" is too similar to "Turn the wheel", with the exception that this one has intriguing keyboards in the background, and the chorus is good. Then what can you expect from the track named "Mistreated"? A ballad? Correct. Reece's voice fails on this track, he tries to sound like David Coverdale of Whitesnake. On this track, Accept temporarily turns into Whitesnake. David Coverdale actually sung the song named "Mistreated" while he was in Deep Purple! Half of the song is pure crap, the other is too average. Accept truly has changed their style, otherwise they wouldn't record a song titled "Stand 4 what U R". After depressive "Mistreated", this even sounds like it's same song. Old Accept wouldn't never recorded this. Any glam metal band could have recorded this. I was afraid that the next song would be the same crap. The next song is heavier, it has better riffs and even better chorus. But it's too happy to be named "Hellhammer". The last song "D-Train" is fast and heavy, and much better than the previous tracks. What a perfect ending.Accept doesn't sound like Accept anymore. Reece is a good singer, but there are some limitations for him. And the bassist Peter Baltes usually has sung on the Accept albums, but not on this, and that's a shame. This line-up never recorded a second album, because the band split-up. Chemistry between Reece and the original members of the band failed. This a good album, but it could have been better. It doesn't even sound Accept anymore.
