Bio:

Wednesday 13 (born Joseph Poole; August 12, 1976), is an American musician. He is best known for being the frontman of Murderdolls. He has also played in several other bands, including Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13, Wednesday 13, Bourbon Crow, and Gunfire 76.After the Murderdolls went on hiatus in 2004, Poole went on a solo tour of the United Kingdom in March 2004, called the Graveyard A Go-Go tour. For his live performances, he was joined by members of horror punk band Death Becomes You, though this was not meant to be permanent.Poole returned to North Carolina in June 2004, and began to put together a more permanent band, with whom he would perform with under the Wednesday 13 name. He brought in former Frankenstein Drag Queens member, Ikky, on guitar. The band is heavily influenced by the likes of KISS and Alice Cooper, while not straying far from Poole's previous horror punk projects. In September 2004, Ikky was replaced with Matt Montgomery. Wednesday 13 toured Europe in November 2004 on the Look What the Bats Dragged in tour. Some of the dates were supported by English rockers Viking Skull. In 2005, after touring, Poole released his debut album "Transylvania 90210",[3] and made a promotional video for the track "I Walked with a Zombie", depicting the band members in footage from the original Night of the Living Dead horror movie. Following the album's release, the group embarked on a tour of the United Kingdom, entitled Tour from the Crypt. Also in 2005, they played on the main stage of Download Festival at Donington, and opened some shows for Alice Cooper around Halloween.Poole parted ways with Roadrunner Records before signing a new deal with Rykodisc, with whom he released Fang Bang, the follow-up to "Transylvania 90210", on September 12, 2006.[4] The European version of the album contains a cover of Motörhead's "R.A.M.O.N.E.S." and the Japanese edition features the same track listing as the European CD, along with a bonus song entitled "Good Day to Die". The American edition features "Burn the Flames", a Roky Erickson cover, as its sole bonus track. Skeletons was released on April 29, 2008, available exclusively through Hot Topic locations in the United States. It was released in the UK on May 12, 2008 by DR2 Records. On November 14, 2008, Poole released his first live album, Fuck It, We'll Do It Live. The CD/DVD package was recorded in 2008 at Crocodile Rock in Allentown, Pennsylvania. For distribution of this album, Wednesday 13 chose to release it exclusively through Hot Topic, just as he had for Skeletons.[citation needed] A two-track digital download entitled Xanaxtasy was released on December 24, 2010 through iTunes. The release was announced via Wednesday 13's Facebook page on December 20, 2010, and contains two songs recorded during Wednesday's 2009 sessions. Out of the two songs, "Xanaxtasy" was previously released in the Bloodwork EP limited edition vinyl, and "It's a Wonderful Lie" was previously released on Wednesday's limited edition vinyl release From Here to the Hearse. During May 2011, Poole released a remix album titled Re-Animated and announced that a portion of all sales for the first month would be donated to the American Red Cross. On Wednesday, July 13, Wednesday released the track listing for Calling All Corpses via Bravewords.com.The album is set for an October 11 release in the US and October 10 overseas. On September 8, it was announced that Wednesday will release a new CD, entitled "The Dixie Dead", in February or March.

Album:

Transylvania 90210: Songs of Death, Dying, and the Dead is the first studio album by American horror punk musician Wednesday 13. The album contains fourteen standard tracks, as well as a bonus track exclusive to Japan, titled "Thank You Satan". The album spawned two singles, "I Walked with a Zombie", inspired by the film of the same name, and "Bad Things", which was released only as a promo in the UK to promote the band's upcoming tour."Transylvania 90210" draws mostly from horror punk, with strong influence from heavy metal music. It shows how Wednesday 13 has progressed stylistically from his last album, "Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls" (with Murderdolls), incorporating less of an alternative metal approach in favour of a more 'straight' metal style.Wednesday 13 has also stated: "Of the tracks on the new album, Wednesday adds “There are a few surprises that the fans won't expect... The title Transylvania 90210 Songs of Death, Dying, and the Dead comes from the idea of what I think a Wednesday 13 TV show would be like, it's like each song is an episode." Tune in in 2005! "

Album:

If The Addams Family and The Munsters found themselves with a love spawn of their own, a little tongue in cheek ghoul with an affinity for all things horror, the likelihood is their offspring would have been dressed in black, sporting a cowboy hat and named Wednesday 13. For fans of the artist, this is a far more plausible tale of upbringing than one Joseph Poole from Charlotte, North Carolina. And as a fan of conspiracy theories in both his lyrics and personal life, Wednesday himself would probably take little convincing with regard to supporting it. Having been the face of more than a few bands in his time, the most popular being his ongoing collaboration with Joey Jordison (ex – Slipknot and current drummer for VIMIC) in the horror – punk band Murderdolls, Wednesday 13 ventured down the solo path well over a decade ago and has come a long way since his always enjoyable debut album, ‘Transylvania 90210’. Today, what will be his seventh studio album, ‘Condolences’ is set for a June release and while it may not act as the generic feel good hit of the summer (not that it ever wanted to be), there is a lot to be said for this record. As he likes to do with most of his albums, the opening moments of ‘Condolences’ is a brief intro comprised of spooky sounds, this time in the form of manic laughter, unsettling whispers and an Edgar Allen Poe heart beat that feels ready to explode by the end. And it all falls under the title “Last Rites”. Once the intro concludes we are met with the first full length track and the records leading single, “What the Night Brings”. A fun, fiery and catchy number, but a pretty run of the mill Wednesday 13 song. Up to this point, ‘Condolences’ has presented itself as a pretty standard shock rock horror record, but what arrives next suggests that it may have all been a ruse to get the listener to feel comfortable, to buy into the preconception that this was a recycled and regurgitated version of something you had heard once before.Once “Cadaverous” kicks in it presents us with a heavier, more edgy and direct Wednesday 13. It is in “Cadaverous” that for the first time we really get a sense of something fresh, and of what the unity between these musicians can bring, seen in the albums latest release, “Blood Sick,” with the intensity continuing to peak on “Good Riddance.” Throughout the record it is, unmistakably, the guitars and drums that stand unapologetic at the forefront of these songs, emulating old school horror sounds like the Theremin and church organs in earlier tracks, as well as defining the albums new heavier direction, particularly in “Omen Amen” and “Lonesome Road to Hell” later on.This noticeable change in direction may have something to do with handing over the role of producer (a position Wednesday takes very seriously) to Chris “Zeuss” Harris, who also produced the last Murderdolls album before their hiatus. As opposed to passing demos back and forth over email, this time around the band went about writing the material for ‘Condolences’ in a much more old school and organic fashion by getting into a room together and writing material before embarking on an intense, month long solid recording process. Although this approach may not always be feasible and schedule permitting, the evidence of its benefits are heard in the results of the final production, most notable on tracks like “You Breathe, I Kill” and “Cruel To You”.When ‘Transylvania 90210’ dropped it was a record that could do no wrong. Since then, each release has upped the camp and kept the Scooby Doo styled silliness to the whole thing, leaving fans of a more heavy taste with little to cling on to. What ‘Condolences’ presents is a transition of sorts. It lays out a welcome mat for fans of the previous material while satisfying newcomers who needed that little extra and edgier something. “Condolences” with its double kicks, bigger guitars and a voice to command it all, shows ,Wednesday 13 has striven for something a little different, a little less camp and a little more metal. The sassy punk ghoul and horror maestro stays true to his roots, but the branches are definitely exploring some new and exciting paths.

Album:

October celebrates the return of cooler weather, overpriced pumpkin-flavored beverages, and everything spooky. This October is extra special as the Duke of Spook, Wednesday 13 returns to the land of the living with a brand new album, Horrifier (Napalm Records), just in time to set the mood for Halloween.Just like any good monster movie with a shit ton of sequels, horror punk icon Wednesday 13 knows what his fans are looking for with his ninth full length album. Wednesday delivers plenty more of his trademark punk/metal/shock rock style he’s developed and perfected over his twenty-plus year career but still manages to throw out a few new tricks and treats. The opening track, ‘Inside Out’ is one of Wednesday’s heaviest songs to date. With a low and heavy chug and plenty of added eerie tones the band experiments with a darker and even more haunting tone then they have in the past.‘Exhume and Devour’ brings back the traditional Wednesday 13 vibe with grooving sounds and big horror punk scream along anthems. ‘Good Day to be a Bad Guy’ is one of the strongest tracks on the album as Wednesday’s classic raspy vocals hit perfectly for what is sure to be a live staple.Horrifier features plenty of homages to classic horror films such as Christine and Halloween which fans have come to love. Wednesday 13’s appreciation for all things horror is unmatched by anyone out there today and makes Horrifier the perfect soundtrack to keep away the Trick-or-Treaters this Halloween.
