BST is a young Swedish melodic rock band formed in 2009. Inspired by the 80’s heavy metal, they have been playing live all around southern Sweden on festivals, clubs, bars and theaters ever since. With their energetic stage presence, technical instrumentalists and high pitched vocals they are eager to bring a whole new dimension to the heavy metal scene.The release of the LP “Optical Illusion” in 2010 gained local media attention and the song “Hush” was frequently played on the Swedish national radio station. BST have also gained public and media attention through their Växjö Lakers (the local hockey team) anthem.As Lakers is playing in swedens highest division, the song has been played on Sweden’s national television several times reaching out to hundreds of thousands of people. In February, BST also performed the song in the Vida arena for over 5000 people.In 2011 the band wrote new material for an upcoming album named “Release the BST” which is planned to be released around April 2012. Before April, a few songs from the album are going to be released on the bands Facebook page.BST is an unsigned band for the moment and are interested in an eventual partnership proposal.

The Swedish band BST is made up of five young musicians from Växjö who have been together since 2009. Oskar Jacobsson (vocals), his brother Elias (drums) and Philip Olsson (guitars), Björn Moen (bass) and David Petersson (keyboards) are all in their early twenties and have recorded their debut album "In The Blink Of An Eye". This was preceded by the EP "Optical Illusion" in 2010. Singer Oskar is also active in the heavy metal band AMBUSH, where he lives out his metal preferences, which are similar to those of BST in the 80s.With BST he indulges in more dignified and technical gimmicks. The five-piece is equally at home in straightforward melodic rock as in progressive realms. At the same time, the guys don't want to and can't deny their Scandinavian origins. If "Optical Illusion" was still very clueless and had a really bad demo sound, the guys shine two years later with a professionalism that is amazing.The intro "Overture" has its name not by chance. In the best manner of a Hollywood blockbuster, it pushes the listener into the right opener "The Hall Of Crossfire". The transition is a bit bumpy, because the slaying sounds of the intro don't quite fit the rocky beginning of the opener. But BST have composed a real hit with "The Hall Of Crossfire". Straight and rocking, the song soars to dizzying heights until the catchy chorus. This is ear-candy at its best! Already in "Destruction" the Swedes weave in one or the other progressive element, but mutate into true prog heroes in the following "She Doesn't Love You Anymore". Epic and mystical in equal measure, the youngsters unwind a programme that is unparalleled.The characteristic "Release The Beast" needs no description. Once again, the rocking is top class, just like "Breaking Free" or the hit "Time To Light The Fire", where Oscar's vocal chords are strained a lot more than before. Great! But the last two songs "You Cannot Survive Life" and "Losing Your Heart" - the token ballad - should be mentioned favourably.There is really nothing to criticise on "In The Blink Of An Eye". It's almost frightening how hard-boiled this young band is and with how much enthusiasm the whole album shines. Not only are there great musicians at work here, but also truly exceptional songwriters. An unexpected and late highlight for the best lists in 2013. My respect to the gentlemen!
