Rat Alley was a late 80’s hard rock/ metal band that played various clubs throughout the Boston area including, The Channel, The Rat, Axis, Bunratty’s, Edible Rex, The Rock Pile, The Atlantic Lounge, and the Green Street Grill and opened for various national acts such as Overkill, T.N.T, D’Priest and World War III. They played the notorius “Dangerous Dames” gig at the The Channel which earned The Channel a hefty fine for nudity and closed the doors on the club for a week.Formed in mid 1989 when the remaining members of Iron Rage (John Williams and Tommi Gallo replacement drummer Mike Fitzgerald) were searching for a new bass player. They met with local bassist Chris Dahlstedt (formerly of Nasty and a early version of Tin Pan Alley) and they instantly knew they had the right combination. On New Year’s eve 1989, the band decided to rename themselves Rat Alley, after a notorius alley in Boston where the band often partied . That winter they cut a 5 song demo that sold over 300 copies at Tower Records in the first three weeks and was played regularly on local radio. The demo was given an excellent review by Metronome magazine and shortly after Rat Alley was approached by Cherrydisk Records. They were close to signing record deal and opening for Motorhead when the band decided to call it quits in January 1992.In 2007 Rat Alley reunited for a 80’s reunion concert at the Paradise in Boston.
