Bio:

Pink Cream 69 is a German hard rock/heavy metal band founded in 1987 in Karlsruhe, Germany by Andi Deris, Dennis Ward, Kosta Zafiriou and Alfred Koffler. The band gained their first contract by winning music magazine Metal Hammer 's newcomer competition in Ludwigsburg one year after forming. In 1994, Andi Deris left the band to join German power metal band Helloween. He was replaced by British singer David Readman. The band, often referred to as The Pinkies, became a five-piece in 2003, when Uwe Reitenauer was hired to support neuropathic guitar player Alfred Koffler. On 5 March 2012 it was announced that drummer Kosta Zafiriou had left the band, due to his various activities as a manager at the company Bottom Row and as the drummer and manager of the new band Unisonic, which also features Dennis Ward. He was replaced by band's good friend and longtime drum tech Chris Schmidt, who has previously played with Sunstorm project (along with Dennis Ward and Uwe Reitenauer), Harry Hess' FIRST SIGNAL and more.

Album:

PINK CREAM 69, a name that can be regarded as a milestone in German Metal and around the world. I remember buying their first album and didn't know what to expect. Whether it is going to be another HELLOWEEN version or not? But I after listening it, I was forever theirs. It was pure Glam Metal with rage and powerful riffs, ballsier than the U.S Glam bands. I followed up PINK CREAM 69 till their 3rd album and then left them aside. With songs like "Welcome The Night", "Sign Of Danger" and "Keep Your Eye On The Twisted", PINK CREAM 69 kept themselves a warm place in my heart. “Ceremonial” is their new album, soon I noticed that it went rather more into the Hard Rock, than actual Metal, with a new fresh sound and melodic. Often there is that AORtouch."Land Of Confusion" the first track didn't make the album take off. Sure it has a very heavy riff along with some oriental atmosphere, yet still not convincing. For me the album started with the second track "Wasted Years" following a positive spirit of freedom. It has a cheesy chorus, but it fulfilled its purpose as a memorable moment. "Special" is my favorite track, it has an old school derived guitar riff with a melodic vibe on the verses with a delay effect. The chorus is song’s bomb, my main reason for falling for this number. "Find Your Soul" has some mystery and a chilling dark feel, but when David Readman shouted "I Believe" I found myself putting my trust into each note that he sang. The drum work is undoubtedly the track’s specialty.PINK CREAM 69 gives a taste of their ballads by their track "The Tide". The gentle guitar playing makes it so easy to interact with it. Eventually it wasn’t such a heart tearing ballad, yet I would consider it to a slow Rock song, sounds different than the messages of "Miles Away" or "I Saw Red"."I Came To Rock", the title of the song describes just what you are about to get, good heavy Hard Rock song, very fast and headbangable. I really like the mood shift after the lead guitar break right when song’s rhythm turns slower but with the fast guitar riff. The song is very dynamic and easy to get in to. You can find songs of the same manner all over the album "Big Machine" that has the same Heavy Metal flame but on other hand you will have much more melodic songs like "Let The Thunder Roll" and "Right From Wrong" that surprised with an unusual rhythm drum work.I enjoyed listening to the album, it sure has some good tunes, great Hard Rock songs aside to more melodic songs. It keeps the Rock spirit alive as the band sounded tight and fresh. I would enjoy it much even more if it was actually sustaining the Hard Rock stuff because I felt a connection to those tracks than to the softer melodic tracks.
