Bio:

Strutz hailing from Manchester, put together by Graeme Wood and Alan Harter, their first incarnation cut two singles with ex-Sam Thunder vocalist Tex Alexander, before settling on the definitive line-up of Noel Fraser, Alan Harter, Dave Hellen, Geoff Potts and both Wood and Davies. It was this line-up that recorded the near legendary white label album, an album that was limited to just 500 copies and made all the rarer due to most of them being destroyed in a fire. An album of almost mythical proportions, it contained a brand of UK AOR that was very much the flavour of the time.

Album:

There was a time when British AOR & Melodic Rock was a much revered genre loved by many and played by skilled musicians across the country. Some bands got to live the dream, getting their fifteen minutes of fame, whilst others never had the chance to let the world listen to their – often spectacular – sound. This is the mission of “Lost UK Jewels” Collector’s Series; endeavour to bring you these ‘hidden treasures’ via Limited Edition (500 copies pressed of each CD) Collector’s Volumes under the supervision of Classic Rock AOR / Powerplay / AOR Underground journalist Rob Evans, bands like Strutz, Peroux, Graffiti, Geneva, Torino, Voyager UK, Tokyo and many more will deliver some of the strongest, never officially released material that the UK has ever seen.Hailing from Manchester, the story of STRUTZ is an all too familiar tale of mismanagement and what could have been. After a couple of singles (released during 1985 and 1986, and here reissued on CD from the master-tapes), it was the emergence of acts like FM, Shy and Bon Jovi that shaped the bands definitive sound. They’ve got great production, fantastic keyboards and superb guitar playing.During 1988 STRUTZ recorded the near-legendary ‘white label’ album, an album that was limited to only 500 vinyl copies and made all the rarer due to most of them being destroyed in a fire. All these songs, including some final demos recorded 1989 are featured here as STRUTZ “Through The Ages”.What you have here is pure 80s UK AOR in the best tradition of the genre, keyboard driven wonderful tunes such as “Heartache”, “Danger”, “What You Gonna Do” or the ballad “Blame It On You” mixed with catchy melodic rockers like “What You Gonna Do” or “Sweet Dreamer”.STRUTZ “Through The Ages” it’s out of print (500 copies sold-out), but you can find some re-sellers on eBay and alike.
