Bio:

Red Hot Chili Peppers, also sometimes shortened to "The Chili Peppers" or abbreviated as "RHCP", are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The group's musical style primarily consists of rock with an emphasis on funk, as well as elements from other genres such as punk rock and psychedelic rock. When played live, their music incorporates elements of jam band due to the improvised nature of much of their performances. Currently, the band consists of founding members Anthony Kiedis (vocals) and Flea (bass), longtime drummer Chad Smith; and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who joined in late-2009, replacing John Frusciante. Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the best-selling bands of all time with over 80 million records sold worldwide, have been nominated for sixteen Grammy Awards, of which they have won six and are the most successful band in alternative rock radio history currently holding the records for most number one singles (12), most cumulative weeks at number one (85) and most top-ten songs (25) on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. In 2012, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band's original line-up featured guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons, alongside Kiedis and Flea. Because of commitments to other bands, Slovak and Irons did not play on the band's self-titled debut album (1984). Cliff Martinez was the drummer for the first two records (Irons played on the third), and guitarist Jack Sherman played on the first. Slovak performed on the second and third albums by the band Freaky Styley (1985) and The Uplift Mofo Party Plan (1987), but he died from a heroin overdose in 1988. As a result of his friend's death, Irons chose to depart from the group as drummer. Parliament-Funkadelic guitarist DeWayne McKnight was brought in to replace Slovak, though his tenure was short, which forced Frusciante to replace him in 1988. Former Dead Kennedys drummer D.H. Peligro was brought in to replace Irons. His tenure was also short, so he was replaced by Chad Smith that same year. The line-up of Flea, Kiedis, Frusciante, and Smith was the longest-lasting and recorded five studio albums beginning with Mother's Milk (1989). In 1990, the group signed with Warner Bros. Records and recorded the album Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991) under producer Rick Rubin. This album became the band's first commercial success. Frusciante grew uncomfortable with the success of the band and left abruptly in 1992, in the middle of the Blood Sugar Sex Magik Tour. After two temporary guitarists, Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction joined for the group's subsequent album, One Hot Minute (1995). Although commercially successful, the album failed to match the critical or popular acclaim of Blood Sugar Sex Magik, selling less than half as much as its predecessor. Navarro was fired from the band in 1998.Frusciante, fresh out of drug rehabilitation, rejoined the band that same year at Flea's request. The reunited quartet returned to the studio to record Californication (1999), which became the band's biggest commercial success with 16 million copies worldwide. That album was followed three years later by By the Way (2002), and then four years later by the double album Stadium Arcadium (2006), their first number-one album in America. After a world tour, the group went on an extended hiatus. Frusciante announced he was amicably leaving the band in 2009 to focus on his solo career. Klinghoffer who had worked both as a sideman for the band on their Stadium Arcadium tour and on Frusciante's solo projects, replaced him as lead guitarist. The band's tenth studio album, I'm with You, was released in 2011 and topped the charts in 18 different countries. The group toured into 2014 and performed with Bruno Mars as a part of the halftime performance at Super Bowl XLVIII. The band will release their eleventh studio album, The Getaway on June 17, 2016. The album was produced by Danger Mouse marking the first time since 1989's Mother's Milk that someone other than Rick Rubin will have produced one of their albums.

Album:

The Getaway is the upcoming eleventh studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, slated to be released through Warner Bros. on June 17, 2016.This will be the band's first studio album since 2011's I'm with You. It was produced by Danger Mouse, who replaced Rick Rubin after twenty-five years and six albums as the band's producer, making it the first non-Rubin produced album since 1989's Mother's Milk. The album was preceded by the first single "Dark Necessities" on May 5, 2016."Dark Necessities" became the band's 25th top-ten single on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, a record they hold over U2 who currently have 23 top-ten singles."Go Robot" is expected to be the second single released from the album. On May 26, 2016, the band released the title track on their YouTube channel and on June 9, 2016 released "We Turn Red". While not singles, the two songs were made available to purchase the following day after their release along with as a free downloads for those who pre-order the new album. On June 14, 2016, the full album leaked to the internet. The world tour to support the album began in June 2016 in Europe with a festival tour. The band's headlining tour to support the album will begin in September 2016 and continue into 2017. "Dark Necessities", "Go Robot", "Sick Love" and "This Ticonderoga" made their live debuts in May 2016. "The Getaway" had actually been teased during their performance of "Give It Away" at Super Bowl 50 party in San Francisco, CA back in February 2016 however it went unknown until the band released the song on May 26, 2016. The song would first be performed in its entirety on May 29, 2016. "We Turn Red" became the sixth song from the album to be performed live making it's debut on June 10, 2016. "The Longest Wave" made it's live debut on June 14, 2016 at a promotional show in Paris.Production on the album began in 2014. However, the project was delayed for eight months due to bassist Flea suffering a broken arm sustained while snowboarding. Anthony Kiedis said:" We had an unusually difficult experience making this record where we wrote 20-30 songs and it was all ready to go and we thought it was happening, and then Flea went snowboarding and broke his arm real bad, which was a bit of a setback... So we re-thought everything and then we didn’t have a producer and we were just sort of lost in space with all these songs. And lo and behold it was meant to be, as these things can be, and when all the dust settled Brian Burton, aka Danger Mouse, emerged and said, “Let’s go make a record". We were like "Great, we have all these songs" and he was like "Leave those there, let’s go write new songs in the studio". Initially there was an affinity and a marriage to all these other songs, but the only way that we saw this working was to have trust in him and get rid of our old ideas and our old way of doing things and say "If this is going to work, we just have to throw ourselves off the cliff and see what happens".Kiedis in a May 9, 2016 interview on BBC Radio 2 said of the album that lyrically many of the songs were influenced by a two-year relationship that fell apart like a nuclear bomb and that his favorite song is "The Getaway".Chad Smith discussed the album in a May 17, 2016 radio interview said the band loved Rick Rubin but they wanted to work with someone different this time, how it was important to change producers and be inspired in a different way. Smith also said "We Turn Red" was one of his favorite songs and that "Go Robot", another song he loves, which is very funky, likely would be a single. In an interview with Pearl Jam's Mike McCready which was recorded in late April 2016 however aired on Sirius XM on May 18, 2016, Flea said that "Go Robot" was going to be the first single and described the song as a funny, funky, up-tempo jam and inspired by the Prince song "Controversy". It appears that the label went with "Dark Necessities" instead as the first single. In that same interview, Chad said that Josh Klinghoffer plays bass on "The Hunter" and that it was the only song on the album where Flea did not play on. Smith described Klinghoffer's playing as sounding like Paul McCartney. The band confirmed during an album preview show on May 26, 2016 that the previously reported information of Elton John appearing on the album was true and that he plays piano on "Sick Love". Anna Waronker, best known for being the singer of That Dog, provides vocals on "The Getaway". In a June 7, 2016 interview, Kiedis said that Danger Mouse was the reason "Dark Necessities" became the first single. The band had pushed for "The Getaway" to be the first single while management and the record label wanted "Go Robot".The band will release a version of the album on 180 gram vinyl which will be foil stamped and limited to 5,000 copies worldwide. The packages, which are webstore exclusives, also includes "Dark Necessities" on cassette single and a 24" x 24" lithograph with extended artwork. Those who pre-order the album will receive a free download of the first single, "Dark Necessities", the title track, "The Getaway" and "We Turn Red".

Album:

Unlimited Love is the twelfth studio album by the American rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers, released through Warner Records on April 1, 2022. Produced by Rick Rubin, the album reunites the band with guitarist John Frusciante, who left in 2009 and rejoined in 2019, replacing Josh Klinghoffer. The first single, "Black Summer", was released in February 2022; it became the Chili Peppers' fourteenth number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart."These Are the Ways" followed in March 2022. A world tour is set to begin in June 2022.f Red Hot Chili Peppers’ earlier work was defined by a strain of masculinity so aggressive that the funk-metal genre it inspired might better have been called incelcore, their output since 1999’s Californication has been notable for its mellower, more contemplative sound. That’s been both a blessing and a curse: every so often, they have stumbled across a genuinely moving tune, as with By the Way or Scar Tissue, but most of their 21st-century output has been soul-crushingly dull.Unlimited Love fails to buck that trend. Bloated and self-indulgent, it plods along, with barely a memorable melody or thought-provoking lyric among its 17 tracks. There’s never been much danger of Anthony Kiedis’s words being confused with those of Bob Dylan, but at times here his rhymes would make William McGonagall blanch: “Outside the world within ya/ Bend to the Woolf Virginia”, indeed. It isn’t wholly without merit: the returning John Frusciante throws in some inspired guitar solos, and at least it is shorter than 2006’s 122-minute Stadium Arcadium. And kudos for being perhaps the first Californian act to dare enshrine Southend in song (on the otherwise forgettable It’s Only Natural).

Yes, a new album after a mere six months, reinforcing RHCP reputation as a band at their absolute peak, riding the crest of an undeniable creative wave. Well, they figured it out: 2 double albums released back to back.
