Info:

Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) is an American progressive rock band founded in 1993 by producer, composer, and lyricist Paul O'Neill, who brought together Jon Oliva and Al Pitrelli (both members of Savatage) and keyboardist and co-producer Robert Kinkel to form the core of the creative team. The band gained in popularity when they began touring in 1999 after completing their third rock opera, "Beethoven's Last Night." In 2007, the Washington Post referred to them as "an arena-rock juggernaut" and described their music as "Pink Floyd meets Yes and The Who at Radio City Music Hall."TSO has sold more than 10 million concert tickets and over 10 million albums. The band's musical style incorporates classical, orchestral, symphonic, and progressive elements into hard rock and heavy metal. The band has released a series of rock operas: Christmas Eve and Other Stories, The Christmas Attic, Beethoven's Last Night, The Lost Christmas Eve (the final installment of their Christmas trilogy), and their two-disc Night Castle. Trans-Siberian Orchestra is also known for their extensive charity work and elaborate concerts, which include a string section, a light show, lasers,"enough pyro to be seen from the international space station",[8] moving trusses, video screens, and effects synchronized to music. Both Billboard Magazine and Pollstar have ranked them as one of the top ten ticket-selling bands in the first decade of the new millenniumThese numbers are even more impressive when you factor in that TSO is the first major rock band to go straight to theaters and arenas, never playing a club, never having an opening act and never being an opening act. In the fall of 2013 it was announced that they would kick off their 2014 European tour with a performance on New Years Eve in front of over 1,000,000 fans at Berlin's Brandenberg Gate. The show would also be broadcast live to millions more on German television.

Album:

The Lost Christmas Eve is the fourth album by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It was released on October 12, 2004, and is the last album in their "Christmas trilogy", with Christmas Eve and Other Stories (1996) and The Christmas Attic (1998) coming before it. All three albums, as well as their The Ghosts of Christmas Eve DVD, were featured in the The Christmas Trilogy box set. In 2012 Trans-Siberian Orchestra toured a live production of The Lost Christmas Eve for the first time and performed the Rock Opera in over 100 arena shows across North America. In late October 2013, TSO released a narrated version of The Lost Christmas Eve much like they did in 2012 with Beethoven's Last Night. The Lost Christmas Eve was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in five weeks,.On March 27, 2013, the album was certified Double Platinum for shipment of two million copies in the United States since its 2004 release. As of November 2014, The Lost Christmas Eve is the twentieth best-selling Christmas/holiday album in the United States during the SoundScan era of music sales tracking (March 1991 – present), having sold 2,380,000 copies according to SoundScan.

Album:

A timely ‘best of’ from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, who embark on a European tour in January after their traditional US pre-Christmas tour (the band are so popular they run two versions of the band in the US at the same time, an east and west coast version). The creative team feature Paul O’Neill, the Savatage duo of Jon Oliva and guitarist Al Pitrelli along with co-producer Robert Kinkel. The collection features fifteen songs drawn from their five albums to date and includes their Christmas single ‘Sarajevo 12/24’, a song originally recorded by Savatage. Not a bad song on here and it’s the seasonal songs that really amaze like ‘Christmas Canon’ which features some amazing choral arrangements and ‘A Last Illusion’.TSO do the slow reflective songs so well too like ‘Old City Bar’. Classical instrumentals with a rock flavour are another speciality of TSO from ‘Dreams Of Fireflies’ through to ‘Night Enchanted’.TSO are very Broadway/West End and that can put some rock fans off, their loss as this draws in many listeners who wouldn’t normally watch a rock based band like this. Add in an amazing stage show and you have a band who can entertain both musically and visually. This album is a perfect starting point for new listeners to warm-up for the band’s European tour

Album:

TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, the collaboration between longtime SAVATAGE singer/songwriter Jon Oliva and producer Paul O'Neill, has become one of the most successful stories in rock 'n' roll history. Defying the odds with each project, they continue to search for new and original ideas to bring to reality no matter how difficult the challenge. The TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA saga continues this year with a new album, "Letters From The Labyrinth" — yet another endeavor in creating something different. TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA founder Paul O'Neill's inspiration for this album came out of his love for history. As collector of antiquities and historical artifacts, he explains, "Over the years I have been able to read and hold in my hands letters from people that have inspired me and left a mark on civilization. People like Mark Twain, Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, Orville Wright — when I actually held a letter in my hand that President Lincoln wrote, it brought me into his world in a way I could never have imagined."Due on Nocember 13 via Universal Music, "Letters From The Labyrinth" finds a conceptually provocative song cycle pushing the proverbial envelope yet again — this time with what O'Neill calls TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA's "first hybrid album." The overall concept is based on TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA's "Night Castle" (2009) and a dialogue between the wisdom of the past and the hopes for the future, via a correspondence between a child and an old friend of the child's grandfather. On "Letters From The Labyrinth", TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA deals with subjects as broad as humanity's journey through the ages ("Time & Distance"), and as specific as bullying ("Not The Same"), the fall of the Berlin Wall ("Prometheus") and the world banking controversies ("Not Dead Yet")."I love making music and I love making it relevant," O'Neill says. "I always believed the arts have a way of inspiring and uniting people. We try to maintain that tradition on the albums and all the other projects we do. I think that when everything else is falling apart, people look to the arts to help make sense of things and put the events they are experiencing into some kind of context."
