Bio:

The Scorpions are a German rock band formed in 1965. Since the band's inception, their musical style has ranged from hard rock to heavy metal. The band's only constant member is guitarist Rudolf Schenker, although Klaus Meine has been lead singer for all their studio albums. They are known for their 1980s rock anthem "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and many singles, such as "No One Like You", "Send Me an Angel", "Still Loving You", and "Wind of Change". The band was ranked No. 46 on VH1's Greatest Artists of Hard Rock program."Rock You Like a Hurricane" is also No. 18 on VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs. The band is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, with claims of sales of 75 million records worldwide.Rudolf Schenker, the band's rhythm guitarist launched the band in 1965. At first, the band had beat influences and Schenker himself did the vocals.Things began to come together in 1970 when Schenker's younger brother Michael and vocalist Klaus Meine joined the band. In 1972 the group recorded and released their debut album Lonesome Crow, with Lothar Heimberg on bass and Wolfgang Dziony on drums.During the Lonesome Crow tour, Scorpions opened for upcoming British band UFO. Near the end of the tour, guitarist Michael Schenker accepted an offer of lead guitar for UFO. Uli Roth, a friend of the Schenker brothers, was then called in to finish off the tour. The departure of Michael Schenker led to the breakup of the band. In 1973, Uli Roth, who had helped Scorpions complete the Lonesome Crow tour, was offered the role as lead guitarist, but turned the band down, preferring instead to remain in the band Dawn Road. Rudolf Schenker eventually decided that he wanted to work with Roth, but did not want to resurrect the last Scorpions lineup. He attended some of Dawn Road's rehearsals and ultimately decided to join the band, which consisted of Roth, Francis Buchholz (bass), Achim Kirschning (keyboards) and Jürgen Rosenthal (drums). Roth and Buchholz persuaded Rudolf Schenker to invite Klaus Meine to join on vocals, which he soon did. While there were more members of Dawn Road than Scorpions in the band, they decided to use the Scorpions name because it was well known in the German hard rock scene and an album had been released under that name.In November 2009, Scorpions announced that their 17th studio album, Sting in the Tail, would be released in early 2010,recorded in Hanover with Swedish producers Mikael "Nord" Andersson and Martin Hansen. Sting in the Tail was released on March 23, 2010.On January 24, 2010, the band announced their intentions for Sting in the Tail to be their last album, with the tour supporting it being their final tour, although the band later made the decision to continue recording past the end of the tour.Dokken was scheduled to open for them but canceled after a dispute. On 6 April 2010, Scorpions were enshrined in Hollywood's Rock Walk in a handprint ceremony, with the band members placing their hands in a long slab of wet cement next to other musical artists. An album of re-recordings of older songs, Comeblack, was released on 7 November 2011.Frontman Klaus Meine was asked in a July 2011 interview about the future of Scorpions and whether the band was going to make another album. He replied, "Our newest project comes out in the next few months. It gives you a chance to experience the Scorpions in 3D. You can actually feel the smoke string out of the guitar like it is a live show. It is an incredible experience. The DVD features our concerts in 3D in Germany. We are just about to do the mix and it should be in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia hopefully soon. Indeed, the strong 3D technology makes us feel like pioneers after all these years (he says, laughing). We have an album coming out later this year featuring classics. You know our love for them. The '60s was the era for our inspiration. Our movie/documentary also is soon to be released. We have cameras with us on tours, so this documentary is being made during our tours. It also gives you a picture of the Scorpions career and journey."Almost a year in advance it was announced Scorpions would headline the Wacken Open Air Festival on 4 August.Despite ongoing rumours of a break up or retirement, guitarist Matthias Jabs told AZ Central on June 12, 2012 that Scorpions would not be splitting up.A month later, Jabs told Billboard magazine that the band has been working on an album that will contain unreleased songs they recorded for the albums Blackout, Love at First Sting, Savage Amusement and Crazy World and plan to release it in 2014. In April Scorpions announced shows in Russia and Belarus with an orchestra in October 2013. On 11, 12, and 14 September 2013, the Scorpions played three MTV Unplugged concerts at the Lycabettus-Theatre in Athens

Contrary to what the band said in 2013, the new record will present not only newly recorded versions of never-published songs, but also new material, written between 2011 and 2014. The album is being recorded in Sweden, with producers Martin Hansen and Mikael Nord Andersson. Drummer James Kottak, who left the band in May 2014 for rehab, will play drums on the new record.[36] The album will be called Return to Forever would be released in February 20, 2015.

Album:

Lovedrive is the sixth studio album by the German hard rock band Scorpions, released in 1979. Considered by some critics to be the pinnacle of their career,Lovedrive was a major evolution of the band's sound, exhibiting their "classic style" that would be later developed over their next few albums. Lovedrive cemented the "Scorpions formula" of hard rock songs combined with melodic ballads.Lovedrive was the band’s first album to be released by Harvest/EMI following the band's departure from label RCA, and proved a major commercial breakthrough, reaching number 55 on the Billboard Top 200, which none of their previous five albums had dented at all. The RIAA certified the record as Gold on 28 May 1986,and the album also proved a breakthrough in the UK where it was the first Scorpions album to chart and peaked at number 36.Lovedrive ranked 25 on IGN's 2007 list of the top 25 metal albums. This is the first album to feature Matthias Jabs on lead guitar, and by extension, the first record to feature the band's "classic" lineup. Jabs replaced Uli Jon Roth, who went on to form his own band, Electric Sun.Michael Schenker, younger brother of rhythm guitarist Rudolf, who had just split from UFO, recorded lead guitars on "Another Piece Of Meat", "Coast To Coast", "Lovedrive" and "Holiday". At the beginning of their German tour in February 1979 it was announced that Michael had rejoined the band. Scorpions had reluctantly parted with Matthias Jabs again. However, during the tour Michael once again informed his bandmates of his impending departure, which led to Jabs' return. The cover depicted a well dressed man and woman seated in the back of a car, with one of the woman's breasts exposed and connected to the man's hand by stretched bubblegum. The back cover featured the same man and woman, but holding a photograph of the band, and her left breast completely exposed (without the gum). It was created by Storm Thorgerson of the design firm Hipgnosis. It caused some controversy upon the album's release and was subsequently banned, with later pressings of the album bearing a simple design of a blue scorpion on a black background. The album's artwork was named "Best album sleeve of 1979" by Playboy magazine.Recalling the cover photo with the woman and the car, Thorgerson remarked: "Not exactly the most politically correct scene you've ever seen. I thought it was funny, but women read a different inflection into it now."In a 2010 interview, singer Klaus Meine commented on the album cover, stating: "We just did not know it would be a problem in America, it was just sex and rock 'n' roll. It is odd that in America some of these covers were a problem, because in the 80's when we would tour here, we always had boobs flashed to us at the front of the stage. Nowhere else in the world, just here. We just did not think it would be a problem to put out a record like Lovedrive in America. Deadly Sting: The Mercury Years was banned at Wal Mart and Pure Instinct was banned as well."This is one of the few Scorpions album covers that was initially edited upon release in many places because of its controversial nature, only to have the original uncensored art restored for the remaster series.

Crazy World is the eleventh studio album by the German hard rock band Scorpions released on November 6, 1990.The album peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard 200 chart for albums in 1991.That same year, the song "Wind of Change" reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and "Send Me an Angel" reached No. 44 on the same chart.Crazy World was the last album to feature bassist Francis Buchholz, and by that extent, the last to feature the band's classic lineup. This album was the Scorpions' first album in a decade and a half to not be produced by Dieter Dierks and is widely considered to be the last "classic" Scorpions album. In the UK, it remains the only Scorpions album to attain Silver certification (60,000 units sold) by the British Phonographic Industry, achieving this in November 1991."Hit Between the Eyes" was played during the ending credits of the 1992 film Freejack. Album:

The album Hot & Slow: The Best of the Ballads is a compilation of the German hard rock band Scorpions. It was released on October 12, 1991 on the RCA Records label. With the exception of Fly People Fly and Far Away, produced by the group, all the titles are produced by Dieter Dierks. This compilation includes titles recorded while the group was under contract with the label RCA Records, say from 1974 with the album Fly to the Rainbow until 1978 with the double-album recorded in public Tokyo Tapes. These songs are rock ballads, a genre in which the group will later excel with titles like Still Loving You or Wind of Change.CD has great older tracks a real fan of the boys will appreciate! Breathtaking music and Vocals. Klaus Meine with his great vocal range is beyond words. This low-budge compiltation is a great primer for classic 70s Scorpions, focusing on the ballads & slow burners. Wish it had the instrumental "Night Lights" A couple of the songs I'd trade for space on a disc for some of their music up through "Winds Of Change" or some of the faster tunes from the companion album Hot & Heavy. It was a great disc to have as a kid in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Line Up:

Klaus Meine - lead vocals
Ulrich Roth - lead guitar, backing vocals, lead vocals on "Polar Nights", "Fly to the Rainbow" and "Dark Lady"
Rudolf Schenker - rhythm guitar, backing vocals, lead guitar intro on "He's a Woman - She's a Man", lead guitar on "Steamrock Fever" and "Long Tall Sally"
Francis Buchholz - bass, backing vocals
Herman Rarebell - drums, percussion, backing vocals

Contrary to what the band said in 2013, the new record will present not only newly recorded versions of never-published songs, but also new material, written between 2011 and 2014. The album is being recorded in Sweden, with producers Martin Hansen and Mikael Nord Andersson. Drummer James Kottak, who left the band in May 2014 for rehab, will play drums on the new record.[36] The album will be called Return to Forever would be released in February 20, 2015.

Album:

Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release "Born To Touch Your Feelings - Best Of Rock Ballads", an essential anthology of new and classic recordings from the seminal German hard rock band SCORPIONS, on Friday, November 24."Born To Touch Your Feelings - Best Of Rock Ballads" will be available for digital streaming and download as well as a 1CD physical configuration.Showcasing SCORPIONS' career-spanning command of the rock power ballad idiom they helped pioneer and engineer to perfection, "Born To Touch Your Feelings - Best Of Rock Ballads" includes definitive interpretations of some of the group's most beloved rock anthems as well as the premiere of two brand-new SCORPIONS songs — "Melrose Avenue" and "Always Be With You" — and a scorching 2017 version of "Follow Your Heart", the album's first single."Always Be With You", the brand new song by Rudolf Schenker, is a deeply emotional declaration of love and story of change written by the guitarist/composer shortly after the birth of his youngest son. "Melrose Avenue", named after one of the most famous strips in Los Angeles, is the most recent song of Matthias Jabs, its music perfectly capturing the enchanting sense of life in California."Nowadays, ballads are the pinnacle of rock music," says SCORPIONS frontman Klaus Meine. "If they're well-written, they will go straight to the hearts of the fans.""Growing up, we didn't really listen to Mozart or Haydn but rather to Elvis, THE ROLLING STONES or Little Richard," says SCORPIONS founder Rudolf Schenker. "But still, the more serious kind of music is what we were influenced by starting at a very young age. There's no denying that."The album features original artwork from photographer Ellen von Unwerth and production by Mikael Nord Andersson and Martin Hansen.Forty years ago, the SCORPIONS song "Born To Touch Your Feelings" was released for the first time and it stands to this day as an abiding musical credo of Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker, Matthias Jabs, Pawel Maciwoda and Mikkey Dee.Meine revealed during last month's SiriusXM Town Hall radio interview that the band's record company "wanted us to come up with a couple of bonus tracks" for the best-of-ballads collection "and we went in the studio and everybody came up with great ideas… We just finished a recording session and listened to the first mixes and stuff, and it sounds pretty good. It's gonna be a 'best of ballads,' but with those new tracks. And it's gonna be a cool project."Regarding how the idea for the collection came about, Klaus said: "Sony Music approached us and said, 'C'mon, guys. You have so many powerful songs. And we wanna put it together in some kind of compilation you guys never did before.'"Meine added that while the SCORPIONS are known in the U.S.A. mostly for their harder-edged material, like "Rock You Like A Hurricane", "in other parts of the world, SCORPIONS are very famous for the ballads, like 'Still Loving You' in France. And in Asia, they love the ballads, and in Russia, 'Wind Of Change' and all those songs are very powerful — equally as powerful as 'Rock You Like A Hurricane' here," he said. "So we talked about [doing] this. In different parts of the world, people like different types of music. So we can offer [a compilation that includes all the best of the softer songs]."SCORPIONS' last release was 2015's "Return To Forever", partially comprising songs the band had in the vault from the '80s. It was the final recorded appearance of SCORPIONS' longtime drummer James Kottak, who was dismissed from the band in September 2016 during his well-publicized his battle with alcoholism. He has since been replaced by MOTÖRHEAD drummer Mikkey Dee.SCORPIONS were recently forced to cancel the remainder of their North American tour dates with MEGADETH after Meine was diagnosed with "severe laryngitis." The singer was advised by a top throat specialist in Los Angeles to rest his voice or risk permanent vocal damage.

Album:

Return to Forever is the upcoming eighteenth studio album by German rock band Scorpions. It will be released on February 20, 2015 in Europe and on February 23 in North America. After announcing their retirement a few years ago, German legends Scorpions had a change of heart and will keep touring and making new music as they approach their 50th anniversary in 2015. The band has announced that a new studio album ‘Return To Forever’ will be released Feb. 20, 2015.The Scorpions entered the studio with Mikael Nord Andersson and Martin Hansen, who produced 2010′s ‘Sting In The Tail,’ and according to guitarist Matthias Jabs, what started as a simple project turned into a new album.“Actually, we only wanted to finally record some song ideas for the fans, which we had worked on in the past but never put on an album, and then release them without much fanfare,” Jabs says. “There had been quite a few over the years, ideas that were really good, but in the end didn’t make the cut back then due to the limited space on vinyl and later on CD.”Jabs continues, “We quickly had eight songs, which partly had to be finalized first and were then recorded from scratch. During the work, increasingly new song ideas were added from our end, as well as from the two Swedes. We had so much fun working and suddenly we found ourselves in the middle of the songwriting process once again. And in the end, it turned out to be a brand-new Scorpions album after all.”‘Return To Forever’ will be available as a standard album, deluxe CD with four bonus tracks (track listing below), double heavyweight vinyl and a limited edition collector’s box set containing the deluxe album, an exclusive ‘Return To Forever’ t-shirt, a 7″ picture vinyl single, signed autograph card and a USB lanyard including a fan pass and an audiobook. Pre-orders of the album are available via Amazon.Scorpions will be hitting the road in Europe next year.

Album:

Tokyo Tapes is the first live album by German heavy metal band Scorpions and their final album released by RCA Records.Tokyo Tapes includes songs from all Scorpions' albums released before 1978, which were recorded at Nakano Sun Plaza (Tokyo's Nakano Ward, Japan) on April 24 and 27, during the band's Japanese tour in 1978. These shows were guitarist Uli Jon Roth's last performances with the band, who had announced his departure after the release of the studio album Taken by Force. The songs "Hell-Cat", "Catch Your Train" and the Japanese national anthem ("Kimi ga yo") were also performed during these shows but were not included in the official album. On the 2001 EMI re-mastered CD, "Polar Nights" was omitted so as to fit a single CD, although it was included on the re-mastered version of Taken by Force. The earlier two-CD release, however, is the original album in its entirety. The original release was in August 1978 in Japan only with cover artwork of an embossed platinum Scorpion on a rose as opposed to a live shot of the band when it was eventually released in Europe in late 1978. It was released in January 1979 in the U.S.A..Roth commented about the recording of the album: "Tokyo Tapes was a peak time, we have played together for all these years and it all came together at that time. Particularly on the first show, which unfortunately wasn't recorded. There were three shows in Tokyo, the first one was by far the best, but the second one was good too. Those are the ones on the album, the second and the third that were used. The first one I thought was a lot better and I was disappointed that it wasn't recorded."

Recorded live at Nakano Sun Plaza, Tokyo, Japan - 24th & 27th April 1978. In November 2015 BMG released 50th Anniversary Deluxe Editions series from SCORPIONS classic era, which finally features some new material from the vaults. In my point of view, the production of this series is subpar. Great idea but weak realisation. Excellent bonus tracks but lack of any info about them and such an awful mastering. Finally all omitted tracks from the original 'Tokyo Tapes' album were released as bonus tracks on CD2 on this album reissue. Actually these two concerts need to be released in theirs entirety (on the 40th Anniversary for example). But we have only 7 new tracks from the shows these time, one of which actually is the same performance in unedited form. What I've found it quite strange that the date of the performance for almost each bonus track is incorrect.I always wanted this album to be more complete and regretted that it didn't feature 'Catch Your Train' and 'Hell-Cat'. There was an empty space for at least one of these tracks on LP 2.So now in 2015 I've received an opportunity to recompile all this material into complete set of the show.I checked all CD versions ever released and found that Japanese 1995 2CD set has the most enjoyable sound and the longest duration true to the original 2LP set of the album. So this version is the bulk of this set.All new bonus tracks for this album were newly mixed so they sound different to the original album tracks, it also caused by the awful mastering of these series. So the sound of all new tracks was adapted with EQ settings similar to the original album from Japanese 1995 2CD set.
Here we go...
1. ALL NIGHT LONG (24/04/78)
Fake applause overdub at the start of the original album. Full length performance from the show.
Abrupt switch to the next track during the cheering was smoothed for this edition.
2. PICTURED LIFE (27/04/78)
Speech before the song is edited for the original album. Full length performance from the show.
3. BACKSTAGE QUEEN (27/04/78
Speech before the song is completely edited out for the original album. Full length performance from the show.
4. POLAR NIGHTS (27/04/78)
Speech before the song is completely edited out for the original album. Long guitar-noise outro was shortened for the album.
5. WE'LL BURN THE SKY (27/04/78)
Full length performance from the show. Just perfect version!
6. SUSPENDER LOVE (27/04/78)
Small drum beat segment before the first verse is edited out for the album. Otherwise full length performance from the show.
7. IN TRANCE (27/04/78)
Full length performance from the show.
This position is the right place for this song in the show. It was placed before the large 'We'll Burn The Sky - Suspender Love' segment on the original album to match the running time of the Side 1 of the LP 1.
The same decision for example was made 6 years earlier for Deep Purple's 'Made In Japan' 2LP live album with 'Child In Time', which was placed before 'Smoke On The Water' on the LP1 but originally was performed after it.
8. IN SEARCH OF THE PEACE OF MIND (27/04/78)
Unfortunately large portion of the intro of this song was abruptly edited out for the album. So it's impossible to fix this issue with proper transition. I've made my best.
9. FLY TO THE RAINBOW (24/04/78)
Slow guitar intro of the song is actually from 27/04 show. But there's a switch to the 24/04 show with the start of the fast segment until the end of the song. Long guitar-noise outro was shortened for the album.
10. HE'S A WOMAN - SHE'S A MAN (24/04/78)
I decided to replace the original album 27/04 version with this one for this edition. Actually I never was fond of visious vocal performance of 27/04 version and like this 24/04 version much more.
In addition this performance is complete featuring full length intro and vocal exersices with the audience during the drum solo.
11. SPEEDY'S COMING (27/04/78)
The speech before the song is edited. Full length performance from the show.
12. CATCH YOUR TRAIN (24/04/78)
Excellent performance finally on its place.
13. TOP OF THE BILL (24/04/78)
The original album features composite of both dates. The introduction of the song and guitar/drums segment is from 27/04 show. Then there's a switch to the 24/04 show until the end of the song.
Drum solo was heavily edited for the original album.
Bonus track from 2015 Deluxe Edition is the full length track from 24/04 show, so I simply replaced the old one with the new one.
14. LONG TALL SALLY (24/04/78)
Full length performance from the show.
15. HOUND DOG (24/04/78)
Full length performance from the show.
16. STEAMROCK FEVER (27/04/78)
Presumably full length performance from the show. But mechanical noise (check studio version to understand what I mean) is muted in the mix. It still can be heard very quietly before and after the song.
17. DARK LADY (27/04/78)
Presumably full length performance from the show. Some speeches and tuning before the song are edited out for the original album.
Abrupt edit during the cheering before the song was smoothed for this edition.
18. KOJO NO TSUKI (27/04/78)
Presumably full length performance from the show.
19. ROBOT MAN (24/04/78)
Perfect version of the song. Not so great middle section is edited out for the original album. There's a large portion of fake applause in very high volume at the end of the song.
For this version I decided to replace the ending with the one from 27/04 to make it more natural and suitable for transition into the next track.
By the way, introduction of the song taken from 27/04.
20. KIMI GA YO (27/04/78)
The weakest decision was to make a fade out during the ending of the track for 2015 Deluxe Edition. Thank God it is possible to restore it back.
So here it is in complete form at full volume. Original speech partially included.
21. HELL-CAT (24/04/78)
Excellent full length performance finally on its place.
January 2016

Contrary to what the band said in 2013, the new record will present not only newly recorded versions of never-published songs, but also new material, written between 2011 and 2014. The album is being recorded in Sweden, with producers Martin Hansen and Mikael Nord Andersson. Album:

To celebrate their 50th band anniversary, SCORPIONS are releasing today, November 6, the 50th Anniversary Deluxe Editions of all their most famous albums. 1965 marks the starting point of one of the most successful rock bands of our time. Hailing from Hannover, Germany, SCORPIONS embarked on a journey that would lead them around the globe and would establish them as one of the greatest rock bands of all time. For the occasion Scorpions open their vaults to unleash hitherto unreleased songs, alternative versions of big hits, video clips, unreleased concerts and more.In addition to dozens of unheard studio tracks and live recordings, all albums are remastered, equipped with extended booklets featuring rare photos and single covers, backstage passes and additional liner notes by Edgar Klüsener, a former editor in chief of Metal Hammer who has followed the band's career closely over several decades.Five of the eight albums are accompanied with a DVD that contains live concert footage from the respective period, together with TV performances and in-depth interviews with the band, where they talk about the background history and the creative process of each of these albums.

For the occasion Scorpions open their vaults to unleash hitherto unreleased songs, alternative versions of big hits, video clips, unreleased concerts and more.In addition to dozens of unheard studio tracks and live recordings, all albums are remastered, equipped with extended booklets featuring rare photos and single covers, backstage passes and additional liner notes by Edgar Klüsener, a former editor in chief of Metal Hammer who has followed the band's career closely over several decades. Five of the eight albums are accompanied with a DVD that contains live concert footage from the respective period, together with TV performances and in-depth interviews with the band, where they talk about the background history and the creative process of each of these albums.

Blackout is the eighth studio album by the German hard rock band Scorpions, released in 1982 on EMI Germany Records and Mercury Records. After losing his voice during the writing of the album, lead vocalist Klaus Meine had to undergo surgery on his vocal cords and it was uncertain whether he would be able to record it. Demos of the material were recorded with Don Dokken as vocalist; however none of those recordings are featured on the album.Rudolf Schenker could not choose between his guitar solos on "China White", so the US and European releases differed in this small detail.A self-portrait of artist Gottfried Helnwein is featured on the cover of the album. Rudolf Schenker portrays this character in the "No One Like You" music video. Shirts with this album artwork on them are amongst the most popular Scorpions T-shirts.The RIAA certified Blackout Gold on June 24, 1982 and Platinum on March 8, 1984.

Love at First Sting is the ninth studio album by the German hard rock band Scorpions. It was released on March 27, 1984 (see 1984 in music) on Harvest/EMI and Mercury.Love at First Sting is notable in that it was one of the first digitally recorded hard rock records ever released. It became the group's most successful album in the USA, where it peaked at number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1984, and went double-platinum by the end of the year, reaching triple-platinum status in 1995.The song "Rock You Like a Hurricane" reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the same year,"Still Loving You" reached number 64 on the same chart, number 14 in Germany, number 3 in the French and Swiss Top 50.The original cover art was created by Kochlowski, which is a German graphic design company. This cover art features a man and a partially nude woman locked in an embrace, with the man giving the woman a tattoo on her thigh. Despite the record company having shown the original cover art to retailers without any concerns, a complaint by Wal-Mart after the album was released resulted in PolyGram Records issuing a "clean" cover for use in several department store chains. The alternative cover was designed to be less controversial by simply showing a photo of the band members, which was the same photo as the one on the inner sleeve. The album was recorded in 1983 and 1984 at Dierks Studios in Pulheim Stommeln, Germany. All lyrics written by Klaus Meine except where noted, all music composed by Rudolf Schenker.

Animal Magnetism is the seventh studio album by the German hard rock band Scorpions, released in 1980. The RIAA certified the record as Gold on 8 March 1984, and Platinum on 28 October 1991.The album cover was created by Storm Thorgerson of the design firm Hipgnosis and, as with earlier Scorpions album sleeves, courted controversy. However, unlike several of their previous album sleeves the controversy did not result in the cover being replaced with an alternate sleeve. Recalling the cover photo, Thorgerson remarked, "That one was funny. I don't think we figured it out. We just knew there was something rude somewhere."Scorpions bassist at the time, Francis Buchholz, recalls that, "Herman came up with the title for the album Animal Magnetism and we all liked it because it's an interesting title. So we had this guy Storm who was doing album covers for Pink Floyd, I think he did the one with the guy with the flames. So Storm came up with the idea for the Animal Magnetism cover, I personally didn't like it, but the rest of the band loved it. I liked the dog though."In the 2001 remaster edition by EMI 7 24353 51542 3, an extra track "Hey You"(rare single), sung by Rudolf Schenker is included (although Klaus Meine can still be heard doing backing vocals on the track), the song is the original first recording from 1980, a shorter rare version. It also appears on the "Best of Rockers 'N' Ballads" compilation CD from 1989 as a longer version but has different drum sound than the original 1980 version. The song does not appear on any other releases of Animal Magnetism issued by Mercury/PolyGram Records, only on the EMI UK record label. This song was released on the same title single "Hey You" as side-A (together with "The Zoo" as side-B).

Savage Amusement is the tenth studio album by the German rock band Scorpions, released in 1988. It peaked at No. 5 in the USA,where it became platinum on June 20, 1988.It was to be the last Scorpions record to be produced by Dieter Dierks. The album was the follow-up to the successful Love at First Sting and had some musical differences when compared to its predecessor. The overall feel of the album shows that Scorpions wanted to experiment a little with some different genres, going to a more radio friendly style and incorporating more synthesized sounds. While there are still some straight hard rock songs, like "Don't Stop at the Top" and "We Let It Rock... You Let It Roll", there are also dance rock songs such as "Passion Rules the Game".

Second live album of Scorpions. After publishing Tokyo Tapes, their previous live album, Uli Jon Roth left the band and were replaced by Matthias Jabs so this live album is mainly focused on the studio albums of that era, maybe their most important in terms of comercial success and popularity. This edition belong to the Deluxe editions celebrating the 50TH anniversary of the German band. Eight albums have been published in total, mainly from 80's era. Some of them content rare, outtakes or previously unreleased songs as bonus tracks. Additionally, some of the CD editions are accompanied by a DVD with TV appearances, video-clips and or the band talking about the making of the album. The DVD included is the World Wide Live video, previously published only in VHS, the whole video with songs, sketches, behind the the scenes... The image is good enough for a DVD if we think it was recorded thirty years ago, but the sound is super-b although no 5.1 remix is included. And as a new stuff we can find the making of the album told by Matthias, Rudolf, Klaus and Herman Rarebel, their drumer at that time.

World Wide Live is a live album by German heavy metal band Scorpions released in 1985. The original audio recording was produced by Dieter Dierks. A VHS was released at the same time with footage of Scorpions' world tour. The live album was originally released as a 2LP vinyl set, in a gatefold-sleeve, and a cassette. The liner notes contain a crew member list, tour date information and when the shows were recorded:Sports Arena, San Diego, CA, USA (4/26/84) The Forum, Los Angeles, CA, USA (4/24/84 & 4/25/84) Pacific Amphitheatre, Costa Mesa, CA, USA (4/28/84) Bercy, Paris, France (2/29/84) Sporthalle, Cologne, West Germany (11/17/84) The initial CD release featured 15 tracks (dropping "Another Piece of Meat", "Six-String Sting" and "Can't Get Enough", parts 1 & 2, due to time constraints), but the remastered edition of 1997 features the original album in full.

Taken By Force is the fifth studio album by German hard rock band Scorpions, released by RCA Records in 1977. This was the first Scorpions album to feature drummer Herman Rarebell and the final album to feature guitarist Uli Jon Roth. Roth left the band in 1978 following the end of the album's tour, and was eventually replaced by Matthias Jabs. The lyrics to "We'll Burn the Sky" were initially a poem written by Monika Dannemann, the last girlfriend of Jimi Hendrix, as a tribute to him after he died. Later, she became involved with Scorpions' guitarist Uli Jon Roth (himself an admirer of Jimi Hendrix) and they worked together on some songs, including "We'll Burn the Sky"The album cover photography was taken by Michael von Gimbut, returning for his third Scorpions album cover commission. Like their previous two albums, Taken By Force caused controversy with its cover art which again resulted in the artwork being replaced in most markets with an alternative cover using photographs of the band members. The band's former lead guitarist Uli Jon Roth defended the original artwork in a 2008 interview, stating...I think the original idea was children playing with guns at a military cemetery in France and some people found that offensive. I don't think it's offensive because I think it was actually a quite a good image because it puts war totally into perspective, very often it is young people, eighteen, ninenteen [sic], going to war that don't fully understand life. When you're fifteen you don't fully understand life, but these guys then have to shoot other people simply because someone tells them to do it for their country. Politicians are sometimes also children with guns, in all periods of time a lot of politicians are far too trigger happy and war too easily becomes an "easy solution", whereas for me it should never a solution, there should be no war in the first place. Maybe every once in a while a country may need to defend itself, I understand that, but in general if you consider that there are over a hundred wars raging in the present day on this planet alone then it's just sheer lunacy and always the tool of the Dark Side. Usually bad things come from war, very few good things, but sometimes good things come from bad things, that's true, nothing's that black and white. It's always the wrong solution to kill people.

Album:

I was quite surprised to learn of the existence of this Double Live Scorpions album from 2011. I believe it was released only in Europe and had little or no marketing or promotion in North America to the best of my knowledge. In fact the only reason I learned of this album was when I was buying the new (as of time of writing) Scorpions Double Live album, MTV UNPLUGGED IN ATHENS. I ordered both and I was actually more excited to hear this album of the pair. If you think about it has been almost 25 years since the last Scorpions Double Live album, WORLD WIDE LIVE, back in 1985. Sure there was that mixed single Live album (LIVES BITES) and the acoustic one, (ACOUSTICA) but really the band was really overdue for a ripping live album. This tour cycle (STING IN THE TAIL) came to my hometown and I saw this show, so I was especially excited to hear LIVE 2011.The packaging on LIVE 2011 is a little dull, just a single fold-out, 4-panel booklet. The cover is cool with Klaus, Rudolph and Matthias doing the iconic pyramid stage pose. The 18-track album is 86 minutes long, making it the longest Scorpions live album up to that point. Recorded in April in Saarbrucken, Germany in 2011, this concert was a big deal at the time because it was filmed for a 3-D DVD/Blu-Ray release. I knew about the big 3-D show, because I had read the hype, but I did not know it was released separately on a Double CD.In terms of song representation it relies heavily on the ‘golden-era’ of 1979-1990, that string of six multi-gold/platinum albums. I don’t need to list them, you know which ones they are! They also throw in two or three songs from the current record, STING IN THE TAIL into the set-list, which explains the sub-title of ‘Get Your Sting And Blackout’. In reality there are only 15 songs if you don’t count the intro, the drum solo (Kottack Attack) and the guitar solos (Six-string sting). I for one am glad they included the solos, it helps provide more realistic and accurate representation of what happened on stage that night. I really dislike when Live albums edit out stuff later in the studio, who wants to hear a sterile, incomplete concert? Part of the charm of live albums are hearing those extra things, like drum solos, guitar solos and in-between song banter that never make it onto an album. There is one major problem with LIVE 2011. The CD version was not the entire concert. The omitted three songs! The songs that did not make the cut are, ‘Coast To Coast’, ‘Raised On Rock’, and ‘Dynamite’, There is MORE than enough room on the 2-CD set, in terms of time and space on the disc to include the whole perfect 100 minute show. It was a very poor decision to do edit the show. Hopefully they fix the problem and reissue the disc. The sound is flawless, the pacing is great and in a bit of a change Klaus address the crowd in German instead of English. The crowd sits nicely in the mix, singing along even with the new songs. As for the music, what else can I say? I love Scorpions, I own everything they have done, including the live albums. Each live album has it’s charm and time and place and focuses on an era and a region… Tokyo, America, Portugal and now at long last it is Germany’s turn. In fact this is the only Scorpions Live album that captures a single show, all the rest are patched together from two or more shows. Some bands have many, many live albums and while I would never begrudge any band putting out multiple live albums (I would rather have them, than not) because of the scarcity of live albums from the Scorpions (only five in 40 years) LIVE 2011 is a special treat for all of us. They can still rock with the best of them.

Rock Believer is the upcoming nineteenth studio album by German rock band Scorpions, scheduled for release on 25 February, 2022.This will be the band's first studio album with drummer Mikkey Dee, who replaced James Kottak in 2016, and their first studio album in seven years since Return to Forever (2015), making it the longest gap between studio albums.Scorpions toured for over a year in support of Return to Forever, where the band celebrated its 50th anniversary, and about three months before the album's tour cycle ended in December 2016, drummer James Kottak was fired from the band and Mikkey Dee was officially announced as his replacement.Scorpions toured for another three years, and a follow-up album from the band was uncertain, until August 2018 when guitarist Rudolf Schenker expressed interest in recording another album, telling the Digital Journal: "We are still waiting for a moment for inspiration to do another album, like Judas Priest and Metallica did. You have to wait until the time is right." In May 2019, frontman Klaus Meine stated that "there might be a new album out in 2020."Progress on Rock Believer had slowly been taking shape for nearly three years, with the writing sessions commencing as early as early-to-mid 2019, and the recording sessions beginning in July 2020 at Peppermint Park Studios in Hanover and wrapping up around the following summer/fall.The sessions were supposed to take place in Los Angeles, but the COVID-19 pandemic meant that the band would record the album remotely in Germany, with producer Greg Fidelman participating via Zoom.In a March 2021 interview with Robb Flynn of Machine Head, however, Dee revealed that Scorpions were forced to scrap plans to work with Fidelman because of the pandemic.Five months later, Scorpions posted a video on Facebook from the studio where they rehearsed an as-yet-untitled song for an upcoming tour.On 29 September 2021, the band announced the release of Rock Believer with the first single "Peacemaker", which was released on 4 November, as well as a world tour, scheduled to begin with nine consecutive concerts in March 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
