Info:

TNT is a Norwegian power metal band from Trondheim, formed in 1982. The band has released twelve studio albums, three EPs and two live albums while going through numerous line-up changes since its formation. Guitarist Ronni Le Tekrø is the only consistent member of TNT. In 2013 singer Tony Harnell returned to the band after a seven year absence reuniting 3/4 of the band's classic 80s lineup.TNT was formed in the Norwegian city Trondheim in 1982, by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Dag Ingebrigtsen, guitarist Ronni Le Tekrø, bassist Steinar Eikum and drummer Diesel Dahl.Securing a national record contract with PolyGram subsidiary Vertigo Norway, they released their self-titled debut album the same year — their only album that features Norwegian lyrics — and got a hit with the single "Harley-Davidson". In August 1983 Morty Black replaced Steinar Eikum on bass, and the following year American vocalist Tony Harnell became TNT's new frontman, making his debut on their album Knights of the New Thunder. His unique and powerful 4 octave range was the final element the band needed to break out of Norway and into the world market. The album was a huge success in Scandinavia and the band then was offered a worldwide deal with Mercury/Polygram worldwide out of New York. Knights was then released in the U.S. in 1984 and the video for "Seven Seas" got heavy rotation on MTV and the album entered the billboard charts. That line-up recorded one more album, Tell No Tales in 1987, before Diesel Dahl parted company from TNT the following year after some turbulent times within the band. Tell No Tales produced TNT's biggest hit, the single "10,000 Lovers (In One)". Tell No Tales marked a slight change in sound from melodic Euro-metal to a more palatable hard rock style, with Le Tekrø and Harnell gaining a reputation as a talented duo. The album was the best selling release in Norway and Sweden that year (outselling hugely popular artists like Michael Jackson and Def Leppard). Tell No Tales also saw the band establishing a mainstream following in Japan and the U.S. Promotional Videos for "Everyone's a Star" and "10,000 Lovers (In One)" were featured on both European and American MTV. They were also featured on Headbangers Ball. The band supported Stryper on a sold out arena tour in the U.S. followed by a tour with Twisted Sister and Great White as well as headlining shows in large clubs in the U.S.Kenneth Odiin became TNT's new drummer and played on TNT's fourth studio album, Intuition, in 1989. This release marked a more AOR-oriented sound, still maintaining a little of the hard rock edge of the previous album. Intuition was another huge success in Scandinavia and Japan. It was also the band's best received American release and saw the band embarking on their first headlining tour of the U.S. which broke attendance records across the country in small theaters and large clubs, thanks to the prominent display of the video for the title track on MTV.

Album:

My Religion is the eighth studio album by the Norwegian hard rock band TNT, released on March 8, 2004. It marked a return to the glam metal direction that ended with Realized Fantasies. It was said to be a "breath of fresh air" by most fans] and received excellent reviews worldwide when it was released. It is regarded by a large part of TNT's fanbase to be their best album ever, including more known albums such as Tell No Tales and Intuition.Sid Ringsby joined the band to finish the rest of the touring for My Religion and to record the follow-up album, All The Way To The Sun.This was the final TNT album on which Morty Black played the bass guitar. He left in late 2004 to join Åge Aleksandersen's band. The guitar effect in "She Needs Me" was created using the overdrive effect, and punching a hole in the speaker's powertube."She Needs Me" is Tony Harnell's favorite song on My Religion.

Album:

A Farewell to Arms is the twelfth studio album by the Norwegian hard rock band TNT, released on 15 December 2010 in Japan. The album is in stark contrast to the previous two TNT albums, being a very 1980s-melodic rock-oriented album. The album is titled Engine in the US and Scandinavia.Reception for the album has been generally well received. Hardrock Haven's Derrick Miller gave the album 8.9/10. Scream magazine gave a similar score. The third TNT to feature the other “Tony”… as in the one and only Tony Mills, is upon us. After critical and fan claims that the first two albums with Mills failed to hold up to the TNT legacy this album almost seemed a make or break deal for the band. Well I’m happy to say the third time is the charm for Le Tekro, Mills, Dahl and Borge! After several spins of “A Farewell To Arms”, I can honestly say there isn’t a bad song in the bunch and there are several truly spectacular ones on offer. The record starts off with the heavy and driving “Engine”. The tune has a bit of a modern element to it but in a good way. Tony Mills sounds in fine fashion and the familiar tone of Le Tekro is backing him up. The production on “Farewell” is also huge and beefy! One of my early favorites is track two, “Refugee”. The song has that classic TNT feel with huge, wall-of-sound vocals, piercing guitars and a driving bottom end. I get a similar feeling with the following track “Ship In The Night”. The opening trio of tunes certainly put a big smile on my face when I first played the disc… TNT is back!Even when the band isn’t at their best on the new record, like on “Take It Like A Man – Woman!”, it isn’t all that bad. Mills still sounds great and you have to check out the signature guitar solo that only Ronnie Le Tekro could deliver. Amazing!“Barracuda”, which clocks in at just 2:41 is a song that drives the point home quickly but still does it with conviction. And wait until you hear “Don’t Misunderstand Me”, the song is something of a “breather” for the album as it is has more of a poppy, commercial vibe but it actually sounds like it could have come straight off the “Intuition” album! It’s another great tune! The title track “A Farewell To Arms” brings back the urgency and has a “Tell No Tales” vintage vibe to its sound. The band sounds somewhat “reborn” on this new record. They bring back sounds and vibes of past records but are finally feeling as though they found their stride with Mills.“Someone Else” is a bit more on the commercial side of things but again harkens back to the “Intuition” or “Realized Fantasies” days. The album closes with the only “soft” tune on the record, “God Natte, Marie”. It’s not really a ballad in the true sense but the vocals from Mills are soft and delicate and the song has a cool feel overall. For the European version of the record you get a re-make of the song “Harley Davidson” which the band recorded for their very first record back in 1982. It’s a pretty cool way to show the band has come full circle and is back and on top of its game.Welcome back boys!

Album:

Norwegian melodic hard rock wonders TNT fifth album “Realized Fantasies” is one of the best from their discography. The recording never was remastered and I think it doesn’t needs to… now “Realized Fantasies” just has been reissued by Music On CD Records, and the sonic Dynamic Range is better and fuller than any other previous release. As good as TNT’s late-80s output often is, lurking underneath the glossy surface is the realization that the band’s principal forces – vocalist Tony Harnell and axeman Ronni Le Tekrø – were a bit wasted on the slick AOR catchiness of Tell No Tales and Intuition. These are wonderful albums – however you got the sensation this band was capable of more elaborated stuff.“Realized Fantasies”, released at the tail end of the pop-metal boom, was indeed a step in a more progressive direction, and a sign that bands in this genre actually could grow. It’s still Scandi Melodic Hard Rock, but the average song length here actually is a bit north of five minutes, up over a minute from their previous work. Le Tekrø’s bouncy riffs have a bit more meat on them, overpowering the atmospheric keys and making this the heaviest TNT album since Knights Of the New Thunder.Further, as soon as opener “Downhill Racer” gets through a chorus, it’s evident Harnell has finally come up with a way to bring the gritty edge of his higher singing into his lower registers, which actually gives the band a slight air of menace at several junctures on “Realized Fantasies”.Harnell’s voice still soars to crazy heights – this album actually has his highest notes ever – but for the first time, he’s truly a complete singer. On “Realized Fantasies” Le Tekrø’s solos find more room to fly, and he brings a new bag of staccato noises / crazy sounds that are his trademark.Harnell and Le Tekrø are also joined by a third notable band member here, renowned journeyman drummer John Macaluso. Macaluso doesn’t get too many chances to go crazy on the album, but he does bring a more progressive presence to the rhythm section – patterns like the intro to “Purple Mountain’s Majesty” are really interesting.Bassist Morty Black is also a bit more active than the average bass player in the genre, and his ‘bass guitar’ lines are quite easy to hear.As usual, TNT’s songwriting here is consistent, strong. The album undeniably benefits from the musicians stretching out to arrangements that have more than a tinge of progressive hard rock, evident most prominently in the intense, multi-section epic “Purple Mountain’s Majesty.”“Hard To Say Goodbye” and “Rock ‘n Roll Away” present themselves as classy melodic rock, but by the time they finish, they unfold into unorthodox structures, capped by excellent vocal codas. “Mother Warned Me” and “Downhill Racer” stay on a straighter path but remain effective, the former containing prime Harnell highs and the latter bringing an edgier feel.“All You Need” overcomes its generic lyrics with an explosive Harnell performance and a blistering harmonica solo (three words I never thought I’d type in sequence). The ballads, typically a strong point of TNT releases, are represented by “Lionheart” which tries to repeat the formula of Tell No Tales’ “Northern Lights” with pleasant results, and the slightly bluesy, laid-back mid-paced “Easy Street” which works great as a break from the heavier stuff.“Realized Fantasies” is one of the most complete and best TNT albums. It has the catchiness and melody of their 80s stuff combined with a melodic hard rock bite of the early Nineties. It’s very similar in sound & style to Europe’s Prisoner In Paradise, and equally good.“Realized Fantasies” is as well a document of the band at the peak of their powers. Never before or again was Harnell quite this unstoppable (though he obviously has plenty of other excellent performances), and never before or again did the band have a drummer on Macaluso’s level. While their 2000s output actually compares quite well to this album when it comes to songcraft, “Realized Fantasies” is a bracing listen as Harnell and his bandmates bash through their glam trappings, aiming for a sound that fits their godlike talent.I love this album, and this reissue is excellent.

Tony Harnell – vocals
Ronni Le Tekrø – guitars, keyboards

Album:

Norwegian/American hard rockers TNT will release "30th Anniversary 1982-2012 Live In Concert With Trondheim Symphony Orchestra" on September 8 in Norway and on September 29 in the rest of Europe. This unique document of the band's three-decade career was captured on June 2, 2012 at the Clarion Hotel in Trondheim, Norway. The group performed a special setlist while accompanied by the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (Trondheim Symfoniorkester). Also making special appearances with the band were Hank Von Helvete, Dee Snider (TWISTED SISTER), TNT's original singer, Dag Ingebrigtsen, and vocalist Tony Harnell, who has since rejoined the group following the departure of Tony Mills. The DVD version includes a documentary.Harnell confirmed his reunion with TNT in October 2013, explaining in a statement: "After much discussion and lots of soul searching, I'm happy to officially announce that I'll be back behind the microphone with TNT."I'm very proud of all we accomplished over the years and proud to have written and recorded all those great songs with my brother from another mother, Ronni Le Tekrø."Sometimes it's just time to give the fans what they're asking for."2014 is the 25th anniversary of the successful 'Intuition' album and we thought it would be a good time to get out and relaunch this little machine for you guys!"In August 2013, TNT parted ways with its frontman of the seven years, British vocalist Tony Mills (ex-SHY). He explained in a statement: "Maybe we did 500 shows or something like that, but not many out of Norway."It has been the most prolific live period in my career, and when I felt the stagnancy and the lack of desire to grow and develop any further, I knew my time was done with the band."I don't think it's sensible to expect new art from the band after thirty years, just a lot of re-living the past and reconstructions of old albums and performances."None of us are getting any younger, but I have a great desire to not stop creativity in my life. I hate wasting days and singing songs from the past to satisfy old fans."Nostalgia wasn't doing it for me."We were never close as friends or anything like that, so there is no great loss, and I have no doubt they will reform the original lineup and just do the whole thing all over again. I wish them good luck on that. I have other releases to come that excite me much more than that."After leaving TNT in 2006, Harnell was replaced by Mills, who has since appeared on three studio albums from the band: 2007's "The New Territory", 2008's"Atlantis" and 2010's "A Farewell To Arms".Harnell's last release as a member of TNT was the "Live in Madrid" DVD, which came out in September 2006 via MTM Music. The set, which was filmed on April 1, 2006 in Madrid, Spain, was accompanied by an 82-minute audio CD plus booklet liner notes from Harnell about his work with the group as well as an additional tour documentary by Darren Paltrowitz.

Album:

The countdown to detonation begins as Norwegian Hard Rock professionals TNT – Baol Bardot Bulsara (vocals), Ronni Le Tekrø (guitar), Diesel Dahl (drums), and Ove Husemoen (bass) – are set to release their new studio album XIII on Friday, June 8, 2018 thanks to Frontiers Music s.r.l. Produced by studio veteran Kjartan Hesthagen and Ronni Le Tekrø, the album title XIII signifies TNT’s thirteenth studio album and the first to feature new Vocalist Baol Bardot Bulsara.Hailing from Trondheim, Norway, TNT was formed in 1982 by founding members Ronni Le Tekrø (guitar), Diesel Dahl (drums), Steinar Eikum (bass), and Dag Ingebrigtsen (vocals/rhythm Guitar). Though considered a Hard Rock/Glam Rock band, TNT’s sound lands on the ‘lighter’ side of the Hard Rock spectrum from peers like Twisted Sister or Van Halen – resonating more along the lines of Journey (“Chain Reaction”).After signing on the dotted line with Polygram Records, TNT released their first studio album, 1982’s TNT, the only album to feature Ingebrigtsen on Vocals prior to the singer being replaced by new frontman Tony Harnell. Making his debut on 1984’s Knights of the New Thunder, Harnell would become a part of TNT’s classic lineup, seeing the band’s music videos in regular rotation on MTV and nearly 5 million albums sold around the globe. For reasons both personal and professional, Harnell parted ways with TNT in 2006. Almost immediately, TNT hired British Vocalist Tony Mills who played in the band until his departure in 2013. Between 2013 and 2017, Harnell was in and out of the TNT lineup, even taking a brief stint fronting Skid Row for six months in 2015.In 2016, TNT hired Bassist Ove Husemoen and Harnell rejoined the band, but on October 11, 2017, TNT released a statement explaining Harnell had again left the band. Whether or not Harnell will return to TNT in the future remains to be seen. One of the hardest working bands in Rock, TNT carried on, and on November 22, 2017, introduced their newest singer, Spanish Vocalist Baol Bardot Bulsara, who debuted to a crowd of 8,000 fans while TNT played support to The Scorpions in Oslo, Norway. Just what the doctor ordered, Bulsara’s vocals fit TNT’s musical style like a glove, and Bulsara possesses a pleasing and engaging falsetto – highly comparable to Steve Perry (Journey).A refreshing and diverse formula, XIII is a polished album which keeps you listening as the tracks go from tender uptempo ballads to catchy Rock numbers. Starting off strong, the engaging “We’re Gonna Make It” sets the precedent for the entire album. “Not Feeling Anything” belongs in a 1980’s movie, strikingly reminiscent of Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” from the 1986 film Top Gun. A steady rocker, “Fair Warning” contains a well-paced groove and warns something big is coming. Up next, “It’s Electric” embodies an affecting groove and some good musical nuances to add some flavor to a track that may remind listeners of the band Extreme (“Get The Funk Out,” “Rest In Peace”). “Where You Belong” places Bulsara’s gratifying pipes on display before “Can’t Breathe Anymore,” and, a style of song on every ’80s Arena Rock album, the anthemic “Get Ready For Some Hard Rock.”Moving along, “People, Come Together” proves the most dynamic track on XIII, asking folks to unite as one. A good solid rocker of love, “Tears In My Eyes” has a melody reminiscent of Stryper’s hit “Calling On You.” At first sight, the title “17th of May” is the same date we tragically lost the great Chris Cornell, however, this upbeat Rock track about taking on the world seems to have nothing to do with the late Soundgarden vocalist. Thereafter, the Pop Rock elements of “Catch A Wave” and the enormous ballad “Sunshine” close out TNT’s thirteenth chapter.Overall, from beginning to end, TNT’s XIII offers a thought-provoking collection of Arena Rock songs touched by the right magic chords to engage a listener. Whether the song is based in heartbreak or enjoying life’s pleasures, Bulsara soars as TNT’s charismatic new vocalist, and, even with a whisper, Bulsara shows an irresistible and impassioned range. Furthermore, the combination of Le Tekrø, Dahl, and Husemoen are superb in displaying a natural talent for creating inviting melodies and esthetic song arrangements. Worth checking out, CrypticRock gives XIII 4 out of 5 stars.

“Encore” is a special live album, recorded during TNT’s headlining set at Frontiers Rock Festival in Milan on April 30, 2017. This release is the last live footage of the unique combination of the American singer Tony Harnell with the band’s master mind, guitarist Ronni LeTekro.Tony rejoined TNT in early 2016 after his brief stint with Skid Row. TNT soon signed a recording deal for a studio album with Frontiers and also agreed to a live appearance at the legendary label festival in Milan, Italy. The band were in fine form and delivered a great set full of classic songs lifted from timeless albums like “Knights Of The New Thunder”, “Intuition”, “Tell No Tales”, and “My Religion”.A fitting testament to a great band and one of the last performances of the band with Harnell on vocals, “Encore” is a release that cannot be missed by fans of the band.

Album:

Special Deluxe Collector's Edition / Fully Remastered Audio shaped from 24 BIT digital technology / Includes 'Everyone's A Star' & '10,000 Lovers (In One)' / 16-page full colour booklet 3,500 word essay, enhanced artwork with previously unseen photos and new interviews - SCANDINAVIA HAS produced many exceptional bands over the years, with Noway's TNT being one of the most impressive. Vocalist Tony Harnell, who joined for their second album, is, in fact American and was put in touch with the band by Mike Varney of Shrapnel Records. Singing alongside superguitarist Ronni Le Tekrø, the pair turned the group into a sparkling diamond fit for world domination. Indeed, the twin axis of Le Tekrø and Harnell is considered to be one of the greatest ever couplings of the melodic rock scene. Recorded in Norway and New York, by producer Bjørn Nessjø to exacting standards, the record was immediately hailed by critics and fans as a masterpiece. Harnell and Le Tekrø crafted a sound that pushed at the very edges of audio wizardry. Le Tekrø's guitar playing was immediately hailed as the natural successor to Yngwie Malmsteen whilst Harnell's vocal delivery was compared to Freddie Mercury, leading to comparisons with the imperial majesty of Queen. Indeed, the band left no stone unturned in their quest to push at the boundaries of what could be achieved in an era where flamboyance ruled the world. Released in 1987, on PolyGram Records, the album contains a stellar selection of songs, including 'Everyone's A Star', 'Child's Play' and '10,000 Lovers (In One)', a song that became a smash hit in Norway and raised their profile in the US and across the world. The album also includes a number of mesmerising bite-sized instrumental guitar compositions from Le Tekrø, and is regarded as one of the most comprehensive statements of musical intent ever crafted.

Album:

Specialists at Rock Candy Records have done their own remaster on one of the greatest AOR / melodic hard rock albums from the ’80s; the awesome “Intuition” from Norwegians TNT.Coming off the extraordinary ‘Tell No Tales’ which mixed edgy hard rockers with melodious gems, “Intuition” is a pure Scandi AOR / pop metal Heaven. Pure 1989’s I’d say. Every track verses are trademark TNT awesomeness, everyone firing away nicely and with purpose, while every chorus is to die for.Whilst ”Intuition” hit the spot creatively, the commercial impact of the album faltered and despite gallant headline touring plans in the US and Japan, momentum wasn’t sufficient to propel the band to a higher level of achievement. Nonetheless, TNT’s legacy was now cast in stone and, not surprisingly, the band’s reputation has continued to grow and resonate louder than ever.On “Intuition”, like the on the previous TNT album, the guitar work of Ronni LeTekrø is awesome. The solos are nothing short of amazing, and the riffs are pretty damn catchy. Tony Harnell’s voice is once again incredibly as well with that huge range and emotion. There is also plenty of keyboard and synth parts in most of the songs which were typical in the era, but make these songs that much better. All tracks in “Intuition” are melodic perfection, polished to the extreme, slick, gorgeous and wrapped by a crystal clear production. “Tonight I’m Falling”, the top class of “Take Me Down (Fallen Angel)”, “Learn to Love”, the upbeat “Caught Between The Tigers”, the ballad “End of the Line”, and of course the title track are almost perfect. However, nothing on here even compares to title track ‘Intuition’. This song is absolutely amazing. From the beginning when the riff kicks in, you are hooked to it instantly. This has to be one of the catchiest and feel-good ever produced by a Scandi AOR / Melodic Rock act. This is my favorite TNT song, and probably one of my favorite ’80s tunes regarding the genre.Nope, they certainly don’t make ’em like this anymore. This song shines of beauty, and it rocks too, which is what matters.“Intuition” always sounded fantastic even in its original edition. However this Rock Candy remastered reissue provides an extra brilliance plus more bass presence, dynamic range, and an impressive punch. It will blow your speakers.

Line-Up:

Tony Harnell – vocals
Ronni Le Tekrø – guitars, 1/4 stepper guitar, lead vocals on "Ordinary Lover"
Morty Black – bass guitar, pedal synthesizer, fretless bass with reverb and chorus effect on "Forever Shine On"
Kenneth Odiin – drums, percussion

Additional personnel:

Kjetil Bjerkestrand – keyboards
Joe Lynn Turner – background vocals

Tracklist:

01. A Nation Free (Intro)
02. Caught Between The Tigers
03. Tonight I’m Falling
04. End Of The Line
05. Intuition
06. Forever Shine On
07. Learn To Love
08. Ordinary Lover
09. Take Me Down (Fallen Angel)
10. Wisdom
