Bio:

The Italian Rock Band RAIN has been active since 1980. Three generations of musicians have passed beneath this name and they have ridden the rock influences of their respective periods, turning RAIN in a veritable team of the Italian Rock . Moving on from the Heavy Metal of their early records up to the modern sounds of the latest album and experimenting new atmospheres with acoustic rock in their last studio LP: “MEXICAN WAY”.In their early years they performed live mostly in Bologna, the hometown of all the first members of the group. Year after year their local popularity increased, persuading them to expand their audience to nearby cities. Despite the many line-up changes, RAIN’s work became more and more determined to keep the road of Rock, releasing their first album of original songs on cassette. Between 1998 and 2007, RAIN released two albums : “BIGDITCH 4707”, distributed by the Greek ETERNAL SHADOWS, and “HEADSHAKER”, product for the French label Deadsun RECORDS . The long promoting tours of these two LPs brought RAIN to be known all over the Italy and even in Europe. PAUL DI ANNO (first Iron Maiden frontman) MICHAEL SCHENKER , UDO , IRON SAVIOR, and HELSTAR, are just some of the big names that the Italian band has had to support . Thanks to this intense live activity , the Italian band matured international experience and began to receive good reviews for their high level performances . Worth mentioning their appearance at Arezzo LOVE WAVE 2005 as the band recommended by METAL HAMMER and the memorable show in Slovenia at METAL CAMP 2005 with EXCITER, ANTHRAX , MALMSTEEN, CHILDREN OF BODOM, SLAYER, etc ... In 2008 they released “DAD IS DEAD”, containing 12 unreleased tracks and a cover. As guest Steve Sylvester singing the legendary “Rain” of the Cult. Record produced and distributed by AURAL MUSIC all over the world and in Italy by Audioglobe . The promotional tour for “Dad is Dead” brought Rain truly worldwide: Finland, Germany, Poland, Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Denmark supporting Blaze Bayley (IRON MAIDEN singer 1994-1999) and to tour a month (March 2010) in the United States (coast to coast) with W.A.S.P. Their work continued in 2011 with the album “XXX”, an anthology of the band's 30-years career, where they rearranged and re-interpreted some of the most significant songs of the previous album. The label Aural Music reaffirmed its confidence in the group. On October 15, 2011 in Tilburg, Netherlands, began “XXX TOUR” that led them once again around Italy and Europe. In October 2013 “MEXICAN WAY” has been published: an acoustic experience, new for them, who needed to express themselves in different ways, as already tested in two of their historical songs rearranged in “XXX” . The album immediately received excellent reviews and after six months only went out of print. Aural Music was once again attended to deal with the national and foreign distribution. Very enjoyable, among the 12 tracks, are two songs in Spanish: “Mexican Way”, the title track, and “Whiskey and the Route 666” (already present in “XXX” in its English version). “MEXICAN WAY” also contains two highly successful Mexican sound cover: “Tijuana Jail” by Gilby Clarke and “Ride Like the Wind” by Christopher Cross . Currently the band is busy with the Mexican Way Italian tour to promote the eponymous album. Started in March 2014 in Rome, it has already visited the cities of Bologna, Padua and Milan. It will continue in Ferrara, Brescia to be back in Bologna and then back again to Milan. In July they’ll also participate at the Total Metal Festival in Bari. During this tour RAIN perform both in acoustic and electric and they introduce their hits taken from “DAD IS DEAD” and “XXX” and cross-over versions of songs from “MEXICAN WAY”. After the arriving of the new singer Mantis le Sin, the RAIN’s team has renewed its incentives to continue their productive work with Aural Music, the label to which they are engaged to release a new album in electric by the end of 2014. From April 2014 RAIN's management has been entrusted to David Tonioni, since years already member of the RAINCREW (team of loyal supporters and partners of the band).

Album:

Italian hard rock band release an album of unplugged tracks with a Mexican theme. Hmmmmmmmm. Like having a chianti with your chimichanga. I was sceptical and it turns out with good reason.Rain are an accomplished hard rock band who have chosen to celebrate a recent trip to Mexico with an unplugged (mostly) album of their favourite tracks from South of the Border (or that at least mention Mayheeco). The album opens with Mexican Way which sounds like the sort of tosh that was playing in the Titty Twister in Dusk til Dawn but without the Nu Metal (titty) twist. Second track Hard Proof is sub Jovi junk which did nothing to warm me to this tortilla of twaddle.Eleven Days and Fallen Angel continue in the same vein whilst also adding Eurovision and Poison influences to the soup. What comes next simply blows me away with its cringe inducing power. Ride Like the Wind complete with bongos and comical vocals really has to be heard to be believed. If Phoenix Nights had ever featured a rock group Rain would have been it. They make Roland Rivron’s Raw Sex sound like Emperor. I am sure Rain have many fans throughout the world who appreciate what these chaps do. They can certainly play and have plenty of passion (nice personalities naar mean?).These mean hombres cover Gilby Clarke’s Tijuana Jail and give it a good go. The guitarist gives it his all but the Sorry meeester officer chorus grates from the get go.Whitemoon follows and in Spinal Tap fashion I can only say Shitemoon.Love in the Back has an Aerosmith vibe and a bass groove which has my head swaying a little before descending into a country and western solo. Nothing so far is new just a bunch of sub G n R tribute band b sides and some stereo typed clichéd ideas of Mexico/ Latin music. How can it get worse you say.A fucking Foo Fighters cover! There we go. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooom. Times like These hits my ears like a cluster bomb of razor blades dipped in napalm. Awful just awful. I feel like giving myself up to the CIA outside my house, then realising that I am choosing to play this and it is not being pumped in as some torture technique. Finally the journey down Mexico Way is reaching its end . The only thing standing in the way, blocking this border run is Bangbus. Don’t put the title into google if you are at work !

Album:

“Spacepirates” is the new album from italian Hard Rock veterans RAIN.featuring 9 tracks of pumped-up heavy rock with a killer mix of crushing guitars, catchy hooks and heavy beats.A musically varied album, “Spacepirates” is unabridged and mature, for some it is modern and fresh, for other it is classic RAIN old-school style.Recorded and Mixed during late 2015 at Fear Studio (Italy) with producer Gabriele Ravaglia (Blaze Bayley, Extrema).Mastered in February 2016 by Giovanni Versari (Muse) at La Maestà Studio.Hard Rock from Italy give us Rain with their new album "Space Pirates". And the guys need to know how this genre is disputed, should think at least, because since 1980, the band. "Mexican Way", their last album, is now back three years so bring time, new material on the inclined audience. That comes with "Space Pirates" also abruptly to the target group, because Rain play their songs straight to the point. According to dynamic, fast, but at the same time with a total running time of 33 minutes scarce very entertaining falls from the album. The opener is also already the title track and that reminded mainly by the harsh vocals frequently on old Rage songs. Peppered with a slightly spacey intro, created by the guitars whose broadside dominant stands in the following tracks, and an extensive guitar solo deliver Rain proven ingredients for a heavy metal song that also thanks to catchy chorus is very catchy. Nevertheless, one misses the concise Rage parallels somewhat the autonomy of the band. While remove the Movie Rage over the plate, but instead, the quintet focused one time or another at the sound of Motörhead. The references to both bands are not least due to the vocals close, but Rain also show that they are fully capable to bring their own profile and also its flexibility to express. Rain (Copyright: Nicola Dodi) So stings particular "Billion Dollar $ ong" from the album "Space Pirates" out; a title that comes along rather ballad and with very clear voice and suggests the vocal potential. Just a pity that it has not used often and more intensively. Thus Rain move very straightforward Heavy Metal and Hard Rock area and leave, although they could to rare attention. Surprise moments are therefore few and far between. cope Nevertheless the Italians the balancing act of retro charm and modernity from time to time very well. Had but looked more intense than the overly proven genre bigger, more moments would "Space Pirates" have borne fruit, the band and album also from the mass would ensure it stands out. Thus the fan of the band and their music gets what is to be expected - no more, no less.Cover artwork by Umberto Stagni

From April 2014 RAIN's management has been entrusted to David Tonioni, since years already member of the RAINCREW (team of loyal supporters and partners of the band). The album Mexican Way (2013, Aural Music) satisfied the need to experiment with acoustic sounds, paving the way for RAIN‘s participation in Pistoia Blues 2015 (with The Darkness and Black Label Society). That was just an episode, anyway, because the call of heavy music is too wild and invigorates the celebrated Spacepirates (2016, Aural Music), as always supported by intense Italian and European tours with Jeff Scott Soto’s band.Along the production of the highly anticipated new album, in 2017 the latest RAIN line-up released the single Good Morning Texas (featuring Alessandro Del Vecchio and the American producer Beau Hill) and the cover of Disperato Erotico Stomp by fellow citizen Lucio Dalla, departing immediately for a new European tour again with the masters W.A.S.P.The recent 10th anniversary reissue of Dad Is Dead, featuring the bonus disc Live In Russi, contributed to point the future stylistic direction. During 2019 and 2020 the band worked hard on a bunch of new songs, along with the pre-production and mix of Giuseppe “Dualized” Bassi (Fear Factory and more), who gave a new and fresh boost to the sound and arrangements, insisting even more on modern and groovy solutions, which however will not jeopardize their bloody and down-to-earth trademark. In October 2021 RAIN released Come back A-Live, the first book ever done by the band, published by Arcana Edizioni and based on the on-the-road 2010 U.S.A. tour experience with W.A.S.P., written by Dave Tonioni (who took part in that tour as merchandiser, photographer, tour manager and much more) and highly acclaimed by the Italian press.Simultaneously with the book’s release, RAIN published a brand new single as a logical soundtrack, named Come back A-Live.For a band already used to get acclaimed live, the upcoming album A New Tomorrow, scheduled for release in late 2022, represents a great challenge especially on a creative level. If RAIN have always proved capable of igniting the stages of half the world, this time they have your stereo system in their sights. So, you better be ready.

Album:

New album ‘A New Tomorrow’, is available now.The singer Maurizio “EVIL MALA” Malaguti, (lyricist of all the songs) says: “The song ‘A New Tomorrow’ introduces a new chapter of the band, consolidating the line up and announcing the release of a new album. Each album has its own story and its own progress, this song has been thoroughly pondered and is born straight from the depths of our souls reflecting the thoughts, fears and hopes of recent years”.The new album will also be released in physical format with some unreleased bonus tracks as well as the release of two more singles and a videoclip. The album is produced by Giuseppe Bassi, recorded and mixed by Giuseppe Bassi @ Fear Studios (IT), mastered by Dan Korneff @ Sonic Debris Studio (NY), additional arrangements and programming by Giuseppe Bassi, cover and graphics by Umberto Stagni (Pasta Volante).
