The debut album was released on Sireena Records production.In March there will be something for your ears! Protz from Wächtersbach, a small town between Frankfurt am Main and Fulda, are a real phenomenon. The guys will celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2020 and everyone who likes rock and metal has probably stumbled across the power rock troupe over the years. Nevertheless, there is a big veil over the band, because the guys are hardly present on the web. Sure, they have a band website, there are a few videos on YouTube and they are active in social media, but concert reports, interviews, biography, reviews..etc. are almost non-existent, as if the band had only been active since last year. The show-off rockers are said to have released a demo (1986) and a self-titled album (1998) many years ago, but in fact there is nothing at all to be found about it, no photo, no track list, no review..nothing.Fact is, however, that the band currently consists of Ritchie Wilhelm (founding member, singer, guitarist), Robin Wilhelm (son, guitarist), Joe Trageser (bass) and Michael Frischbier (drummer). The guys are no strangers, as frontman Ritchie Wilhelm was a guitarist for Rock Rotten's 9MM for a long time, Michael Frischbier has been maltreating the skins with the industrial rockers Maerzfeld since 2013 and Joe Trageser may be known to some from the cover band Shake Your Bones. It is also a fact that an EP, In Dog We Trust, has been available since February and that the swank rockers are now also available to take home.In an advance teaser, a couple of Protz kids run back and forth excitedly "Ey, have you heard, Protz have released a new album?" Admittedly, the fact that the Hessians are releasing a silver disc at all after all these years is a bit of a sensation, because first and foremost they see themselves as a live band. How else can it be explained that they didn't board a studio much earlier? The new album also turns out to be an EP with five songs and a good 19 minutes of playing time, of which fans of the band might be a little disappointed, because unfortunately there is no new material to be found here. Instead, they have given their fans and themselves a present for their birthday with this silver disc in a digipak and have re-recorded five well-known hits. The first track is the power rock anthem In Dog We Trust, a rocking stomper that has no equal. The following uptempo rocker I Don`t Wanna Work No More goes in a very similar direction, before Rock Your Bones switches a bit more into rock 'n' roll mode. With the power ballad Backstage Queen, softer tones are struck and Riding On A Harley is the biker rock anthem par excellence. A hellish rebirth of old classics, which are not without reason on every setlist of the Hessians. Powerful and dirty ass-kicking rock 'n' roll with a slight pinch of metal, lush guitar riffs, thundering drums and vocals with recognition value.This retrospective was produced by none other than Jörg "Warthy" Wartmann, who has also been active for Unheilig, Hämatom, Eisbrecher and Frei.Wild, among others, and you can hear that in every moment. In Dogs We Trust was self-released and is available through the band.According to an interview with FFM-Rock in June, the band has written a lot of great songs lately, so we can perhaps expect new material in the foreseeable future.
