Bio:

Hailed as “the new hope” for the British Hard rock scene, WRAITH had an illustrious and successful career playing capacity crowds worldwide and even having LEMMY KILLMEISTER (Motorhead) singing backing vocals on the debut album “DANGER CALLING”, until they split in 1998.Due to the popular demand of fans WRAITH are back, reformed and ready to celebrate the 25th year of their birth. Bigger, Harder, Heavier and tighter than ever before! The signature duel guitar sound and major riffs will continue the style WRAITH has become acclaimed for; in the newly recorded material in 2012.From the beginning WRAITH were supported by the best in the Industry, the first EP and debut album “DANGER CALLING” being produced by GUY BIDMEAD (Whitesnake/Motorhead), mixed by PETE WAY (UFO) and BRIAN ROBERTSON (Thin Lizzy). The backing vocals being sung by none other than Mr Lemmy Killmeister (Hawkwind/Motorhead).The next release “Riot” produced by MARK BRUCE (Black Sabbath/Magnum) saw WRAITH’S popularity spread to Europe and Japan, followed by the third critically acclaimed album “SCHIZOPHRENIA” charting worldwide. The band played to capacity crowds and toured with artists such as UFO, LEGS DIAMOND, WOLFSBANE, MAMAS BOYS, GRIM REAPER, WRATHCHILD, MARSHALL LAW, SAXON, and MOTORHEAD.Unfortunately the band parted ways on the pinnacle of their career, and went off to do solo projects…or buy bars in Spain! Notably Gregg Russell accepted Bass duties for TIGERTAILZ in this period.Gregg and Myke also worked on the 2007 album “Evolution” as a three man WRAITH project with good friend and session drummer John " the machine " Rowland. The nick-name was given to him by studio guys who he never failed to amaze with his timing skills. John unfortunately lost a hard fought battle with Cancer in 2010. Evolution uniquely features a narrative by Sci-fi writer ARTHUR C CLARKE CBE, which he wrote especially for the album, and was the last project he worked on before his death. And here we are now! WRAITH were invited to play a one off gig in Nottingham City Centre to celebrate Nottingham’s musical Talent. The response was overwhelming! And so WRAITH starts a new chapter….

Album:

Reissued in 1996 with Japan Bonus Track.WRAITH released their second album, Riot in 1993, and subsequently released three more albums through 2007.If you like the old Dokken style then check out these guys. The production is lacking on this one so get the Japanese issue with the bonus track if possible.Might not be everyone's cup of tea but it is cheap enough to find out.A great album, heavy twin guitar yet melodic.Very catchy songs. The original version of this album came in an amazing fold out sleeve (different picture) with Ross Halfin photos.Dark, rough and heavy guitarsound, typical british. They are not as heavy as their labelmates "Adrenalin kick" or "Marshall law".Singer sounds a little dull at moments, but for the rest he's oke.First track is melodic commercial hard rock but damn the guy sounds like Ozzy which is good! but for some reason I like this album I shouldn't but it's pure kick ass. It's more Heavy Metal with melodic metal than rock, singer like I said sounds like Ozzy and it works due the guitarists can do any type of Metal/Rock. Each song blends into the other and keeps you hooked, to be a bit mean maybe thats why they didn't break into the big time coz of the vocals.

Album:

The history of England's Wraith dates back to 1987, but apparently, as of the last 20 years, they like to release a studio album every ten years. Their last album was 2007's Evolution. They arrive with a new and fifth album, Revelation with guitarist Greg Russell the only original member and with new vocalist in Ryan Coggin. The skinny on the Coggin acquisition is that he was offered the vocal job for Ratt, after Stephen Pearcy left, but choose Wraith instead.Which also gives you one small clue to what Wraith 5.0 sounds like. They sound like Ratt. Maybe a combination of Ratt and Motley Crue, with perhaps a touch of Poison, even some Def Leppard. Yeah, Wraith delivers classic Sunset Strip, hair and sleaze, melodic hard rock with strong metal edge. They do this with often fast-paced tunes loaded with strong hard rock rhythm and groove. The metal edge comes mostly from the sharp twin guitar assault. Simply put Revelation is guitar forward album. After twin guitar riffage and harmony, solos fly like fireworks in every song. As for Coggin, he has the perfect voice the Wraith sound and perhaps the songs were written to his timbre. Moreover he sings clean and melodic, staying strong and never overextending his range. As for the songs, the aforementioned Wraith sound description is the essential formula for every song with some differences among them. Both Lifeline and Invasion begin with a motorcycle guitar riff intro ala Motely Crue, among others. Hunted, the bonus track, begins with an acoustic start which is quickly swarmed over by electric riffage. Into The Fire rips into a guitar solo straight from the gate and then develops into some catchy melodic metal with a great rock groove. The same could be said for Dream Steeler, another groove monster with big riffs and a catchy refrain. Actually, the song reminds me of a Primal Fear song, especially in that chorus. The only ballad comes with Leaving Me Again, and it's fine one. 1987 deja vu all over again.Bottom line? With Revelation, Wraith marks a strong return to form for the band, delivering classic Sunset Strip, hair and sleaze, melodic heavy metal with some killer groove. Hopefully we won't have to wait another ten years for a follow up album. Easily recommended.
