Bio:

It’s fair to say that UK quartet Skarlett Riot don’t lack confidence. As anyone that’s had the pleasure of witnessing this young four-piece live will attest to.In an already jam-packed career Skarlett Riot have wowed audiences at Download (earning a 4K live review from Kerrang!) , Reading, Leeds, Bloodstock, Hard Rock Hell and a host of other festivals. They've also shared stages across the UK with the likes of Funeral For A Friend, Gus G, Kamelot, Deaf Havana, The Darkness, Wednesday 13, Heaven’s Basement, Black Spiders, Taking Dawn, Glamour Of The Kill, plus many more.Formed back in 2010, this female-fronted band were soon taking their local scene by storm with their powerful, riff-led songs, blending melody and grit with a muscular garage rock’n’roll backbone. Add to that an ear for infectious hooks, and you have a band that not only has bags of attitude but the songs to back them up!Their first single from SR's debut album, the anthemic ‘Faded Memory’ saw the band earning support from Radio 1, who added the band to their daytime playlist and led to the band being featured on national shows from Sara Cox, Greg James, Scott Mills and Huw Stephens amongst others. The band’s current 2015 EP 'We Are The Brave' led to glowing praise within the rock community; Big Cheese, Kerrang, Powerplay, were all glowing in their praise. The band released a music video in support of the EP which hit rotation on Scuzz TV earlier this year. The band have enjoyed continued support from Kerrang and Scuzz for the singles from their acclaimed EP ' We Are The Brave'.

Album:

“Tear Me Down”, the first full-length release by UK-band Skarlett Riot, is an album that manages to catch some bright and searing rock’n’roll lightning-in-a-bottle. Growling and grinding with terrific garage-rock grit, fired up by a hard-rocking spirit, and flashing influences from bands like Alterbridge, Halestorm, Heaven’s Basement, Crashdiet, LA Guns, and Velvet Revolver, Skarlett Riot shows some impressive confidence and real chops both musically and lyrically.Singer Skarlett’s edgy, strong voice gives the tunes a lot of their barbed wire sharpness, and behind her the band has a furious, intense sound throbbing with powerhouse drums, heavy-duty guitar-riffs, and rumbling bass-muscle.The band blasts out of the gate with the rambling and rocking, guitar-racing “Faded Memory” showcasing the band’s fire and speed, and fleshed out with some emotional, rough and raw lyrics and vocals. As on the rest of the album there’s an urgent, intense, and passionately personal quality to the lyrics, giving the band a real voice and vibe of its own.SkarlettRiot_Band.That voice comes through clearly on the darker, heavy-riffing “What We’ve Become” too, with the line “we are broken” baring the desperation and pain at the core of the track. And the fast and fiery “Adrenaline” is also injected with some real and ragged emotion. After that the band launches into “Rock N Roll Queen” – my favorite tune on this album – a gloriously rumbling and rough track that rides in on a gorgeous riffy intro, and then rocks out hard enough to leave you pleasantly breathless.“Lost” is an oddball interlude of a track, but it’s so promising in its haunting weirdness that I was sort of disappointed when it faded out after only two minutes. At its very best this album is both powerfully explosive and deeply emotional at the same time. “Villain” is an excellent example – it’s a track that throbs with gloriously heavy drumming, the guitar and bass full of aggression, and Skarlett’s voice alternately screaming and crooning. With its expressive guitar-work and vulnerable vocals “Broken Wings” proves that the band has some ballad chops as well; while “Party Hard” is another hard-rocking, emotionally loaded rush of fire, all heavy riffs and throbbing bass, and featuring a bit of 1980s spectacle in the guitar-playing. Then final track “Riot” – pumped full of anger and urgency – closes out the album with a flourish.“Tear Me Down” is not a perfect or flawless release by any means, but Skarlett Riot skillfully harnesses its fierce fighting spirit, and explosive energy, creating a raw and powerful rocker of an album. Doubtlessly, time and experience will hone and sharpen this band’s skills further, but there’s a lot to be said for this kind of jagged edge as well.

Album:

The new EP May 2nd 2016. Acclaimed UK modern rock quartet release their stunning new EP May 2nd, 2016.‘Sentience’ sees the band exploring a darker, heavier sound than before without losing any of their signature trademarks. With the commanding presence of Skarlett at the helm, her powerful and incredibly versatile voice defines Skarlett Riot’s sound and ensures they remain a cut above the rest.Musically the band are exploring a heavier avenue than before; taut guitar lines bolstered by clattering drums but all the while remembering the hooks and melodies that seen this band grow into one of the UK’s finest young bands.‘Sentience’ will be preceded by the single ‘Voices’ in April, with the band hitting the road across the UK and into Europe for the first time.+

Album:

Skarlett Riot are back with a brand new album, Regenerate. This is the first full-length album since 2013’s Tear Me Down, and the latest release since 2016’s EP Sentience. Skarlett Riot are bigger than before with this new album, which shows off heavy hitting riffs and dark melodies. While similar Metal bands may be heading towards a softer sound, Skarlett Riot are heavier than ever and more forceful than before. With similar sounds to that of Bullet for My Valentine and Asking Alexandria, there is no limit to how far these guys can go. With influences from bands such as Guns and Roses, you know this is gonna be a killer of an album. The opening track ‘Break’ sets the album off with a bang, with a steady drum beat and an eerie melody starting you off before kicking into heavy guitars. Skarlett’s voice then takes the track to the next level with the varying softness and hardness she is able to portray. The video you can watch below is a couple of minutes shorter and kicks straight into the guitars, so it’s certainly worth checking out the album for the full length track.Another massive highlight is ‘The Storm,’ which has opening guitars that sound somewhat similar to that of Bullet for My Valentine. But don’t fear, with Skarlett’s voice, you can certainly tell the difference. With a chorus which is certainly going to be a sing along when played live, this track has a more melodic feel than that of ‘Break’ and some other tracks. The riffs and the beat are heavy but the melody is certainly softer. From start to finish this Scunthorpe-based band certainly know how to write and perform an album. Each track is as captivating as the next. With fantastic hits such as ‘What Lies Beneath’ and ‘Warrior,’ you’ll certainly find yourself with this album on repeat. Growing with their sound, there is even more aggression to be heard throughout, and with its heavy hits set against the feminine voice of frontwoman Skarlett it truly is a fantastic album.
