Bio:

Formed in 1984, Welland, Ontario's Roxx impressively imitated the loudest and best aspects of heavy metal icons KISS and Metallica to achieve their own hybrid hard rock sound. Extensive touring throughout Southern Ontario culminated in 1990 with an independent release, Breaking New Ground. 1995 was the year this trio created their own label, Meehan Music, and released Alternative Union, a compilation disc showcasing 11 additional area bands who, like Roxx, were as yet unsigned. Before settling down to record Deranged in 1999, they endured personnel changes and released Night of the Living Dead under the temporary name Redrum. With Ken Edie on lead guitar, Dean Meehan on vocals and bass, and Wayne Meehan supplying the drumbeats, Roxx was finally ready to make an impact and, hopefully, get a major record deal.

Album:

You see the CD cover; you see the hair, you see the 'dress code', you see the body 'language', you see the logo lettering, you see the record label. In two lines' time, you conclude you should follow on reading the rest or not. There was a certain fame vocalist Joey D'Angeli did handle the vocal duties in SKID ROW prior to Bach's arrival, even if his throat resembles to the style of ROXX GANG (huh, huh…), CINDERELLA and MOTLEY CRUE…and some of SKID ROW, OK. These vagabonds were raised in the 80s Glam scene, and - even if they lack originality - seem to get along with good loud hooks really well, raising question for why they did not succeed in a '$$$' contract with a relative label back then. The guitar work is harsh, no keys and lovin' melodies are to be found, while the drinkin' 'party' feeling goes on throughout the whole album. Hmmm…wrong. The semi-ballad Give Up Your Heart sees this melodic emotional 'MTV future' hit style (remember POISON and KIX). As for the production: it really fits like a glove to the mean business of ROXX.Ideal for all 80s glam/sleaze lovers, ROXX and Outlaws, Fools & Thieves can getcha rocks off. If you have enough money to take this one, too.
