Bio:

FM are a British AOR band. In the U.S., they are often referred to as FMUK. They have released eleven albums to date. Two of those, Indiscreet and Tough It Out reached the UK Albums Chart, whilst five of the band's singles made inroads into the UK Singles Chart.FM will release an EP, titled Futurama, on March 31, containing four brand-new tracks plus six live performances and an extended remix. The release ties in with the band’s upcoming dates, where they’ll open for Foreigner and Europe before a series of headline shows.Frontman Steve Overland says: “We’ve been busy in the studio working on the EP and writing songs for the next album. We’re really pleased with the direction the songs are taking.“Previous EPs have proved popular – and this is our biggest and best to date.”

Album:

With the recent release of FM's re-recorded "Indiscreet", one of you asked for the original album remastered by Rock Candy Records.Fronted by Steve Overland, FM are one of UK's most enduring and most loved Melodic Rock / AOR acts. When the band were celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the release of their classic debut "Indiscreet", in conjunction with Rock Candy Records they assembled a Deluxe 2 CD set containing the original album freshly digitally remastered plus no less than 18 bonus tracks.Alongside the original "Indiscreet" album plus rare BBC sessions and a live track on one CD, the release includes an extra disc of rarities such as singles b-sides, extended 12'' remix versions, live tracks, and for the first time on CD, the hard to find instrumental version of "American Girls" (only appeared on a mega rare maxi-single vinyl back in 1986) special to demonstrate your skills at the mic / karaoke. This Rock Candy 24-bit remastering from the original source tapes sounds excellent complete with a full color booklet including never seen photos, and these songs - needless to say - are absolutely gorgeous, pure golden AOR / Melodic Rock classics.

We’re really pleased with the direction the songs are taking.“Previous EPs have proved popular – and this is our biggest and best to date.”

Album:

Originally appeared in 1989, the glorious year for Melodic Rock / AOR music, "Tough It Out" was the second album by FM, perfectly remastered by Rock Candy Records plus five bonus tracks.Their debut album, ‘Indiscreet’, set the scene perfectly. This was a British band with their eyes set firmly on the American market, playing music equal to, if not superior, than masters of the craft such as Foreigner, Journey and Survivor. That they had not earned a significant sales foothold was shocking but it only fueled their resolve to come back out swinging with their sophomore album, the stoically titled "Tough It Out".This time around they were taking no chances. Arming themselves with new management (REO Speedwagon's representative) a top notch producer in Neil Kernon and topping off their determination by collaborating with some of the best songwriters of the day (including Desmond Child) they constructed an album of serious potential.Originally issued in 1989, "Tough It Out" takes all the excitement of their first album and infuses it with top class production and an energy that suggested they weren't going to take any prisoners.Mixed by Nigel Green (Def Leppard), the album contains eleven stunning slices of melodic AOR including such crowd pleasers as "Don't Stop", "Bad Luck", "Burning My Heart Down" and "Someday (You'll Come Running)".As always, Steve Overland must be credited for his superlative performance - outstanding vocals that turn quality songs into exploding supernovas of melody and sophistication. The end result is truly, one of the greatest AOR albums of all time. This Rock Candy 24-bit digital remastering from the original source tapes is bright, well balanced, plus 5 bonus tracks originally appeared as b-sides, including the rare and really hard to find "Everytime We Touch".

Album:

Very rare Japanese Edition out of print.Riding the wagon of the early '90s 'Unplugged albums' success (Tesla, Eric Clapton, Queensryche) British AORsters FM also released their own CD recorded live at Studio 3, London. Titled 'No Electricity Required', its name speaks for itself. This one was requested by one of you, but while there's a pseudo 'remastered version' by the dubious reissue label Krescendo Records (avoid their products like a plague), we have chosen the very rare original Japanese Edition of the album curiously re-entitled "Live Acoustical Intercourse" for the Asian market. As it used to happen - and in some cases still do - Japan pressings were way better than anything else.Mixing own songs with rock classics tunes, what you have here is a stunner, polished and crystal clear performances with Steve Overland vocals at their peak. There's great versions of Bad Company's 'Seagull' and 'Little Bit of Love', Fleetwood Mac's 'Need Your Love So Bad', Joe Walsh's 'Rocky Mountain Way', ZZ Top's 'Tush' and even a contemporary but already a classic 'Enter Sandman' included into a medley. As said, while recorded 'live into the studio' and you can hear some claps from the selected audience, this recording sounds like a studio LP. There's an obvious attention to detail, I guess some overdub, etc. FM members are perfectionists. However, the band sounds natural, with a feel-good vibe, and all these songs come vital. One of the highlights here is the stripped version of their song 'Closer To Heaven'. The piano and the emotion of Overland's inspired performance makes it better than the original.

Line Up:

Steve Overland - vocals, guitar
Merv Goldsworthy - bass, vocals
Pete Jupp - drums, vocals
Andy Barnett - guitar, vocals
Charlie Olins - keyboards

Album:

FM and Frontiers Music Srl are pleased to announce that due to overwhelming demand, the 'Indiscreet 30' album will see a formal commercial release on November 4th.Thirty years after the release of their now classic debut album, FM decided to record a modern-day version of 'Indiscreet'. FM were asked many times to consider re-recording the tracks on the album using today's modern technology and recording techniques to give the songs the "FM sound" of today.Over the years, 'Indiscreet' has deservedly won the reputation of being an iconic album for the band. FM always steered clear of the idea of re-recording it, but while in the studio recording the follow-up to their most recent release, HEROES & VILLAINS, FM decided to put down a backing track to the song "That Girl" to see how it would feel with the huge sounds they were getting at the time. It gave the song a new dynamic and power that was not possible to achieve with '80s recording technology. 'We played it back the following morning and decided it would be great to hear all these classic songs with this new lease of life,' says bassist Merv Goldsworthy. 'We are not trying to recreate the original, but this is our interpretation played by FM as we are today with the sound of FM 2016.'In addition to the re-recording of the original album, INDISCREET 30 also features seven bonus tracks, including brand new song "Running On Empty" and a new recording of "Let Love Be The Leader".INDISCREET 30 was produced by FM, recorded at Tremolo Studios and Coal House Studios, Staffordshire and mixed by Jeff Knowler (METROPOLIS, ROCKVILLE and HEROES & VILLAINS).The band will be honoring pre-orders received to date for delivery on October 28th as originally announced. The album will also be on sale during the band''s tour dates commencing October 28th at Wakefield Warehouse 23. For the Warrington Parr Hall show on Saturday October 1st, pre-orders will be taken at the merchandise stand.

Album:

Legendary British Melodic Rockers FM return with the anticipated new album‘Heroes & Villains’ - Out on Frontiers in April...Arguably the UK’s finest purveyors of Melodic Rock music, FM will release their new studio album ‘Heroes & Villains’ on April 17th in Europe and April 21st in North America.‘Heroes & Villains’ is FM’s first album release since signing to Frontiers Music Srl, and follows the band’s highly acclaimed 2014 E.P. ‘Futurama’ and sell-out UK arena tour with Foreigner and Europe. FM’s UK tour kicks-off at in Bristol on Friday, 1st May, and includes dates in Wolverhampton, Portsmouth, Nottingham, Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester, with the final night of the tour taking place at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on Sunday, 10th May and will be anticipated by the band’s eagerly awaited performance at the Frontiers Rock Festival in Trezzo sull’Adda (Milan) Italy on April 11th.The fourth album since FM reformed in 2007, ‘Heroes and Villains’ sees FM staying true to their musical legacy, offering their classic sound updated, with great songwriting and performances spiced-up by the golden voice of lead vocalist Steve Overland. Self-produced, the recording session took place at Tremolo Studios, before being mixed and mastered at Abbey Road Studios.Looking forward to the release of ‘Heroes and Villains’, Steve Overland said, “I think we have managed to capture the best elements of what the band are about in 2015. We had great fun making the record and we are all very proud of the finished result. There are big rock anthems in tracks like ‘Diggin' Up The Dirt’ and ‘Fire and Rain’, and many melodic songs with FM’s trademark hooks and vocal harmonies. There are also not one, but two ballads. One of these (Walking With Angels) is a stripped-down acoustic song, which is something a little different for us.”The band’s drummer, Pete Jupp, added, “After our shows in November the band was white hot and the creative juices were in full flow, so the writing and recording process for Heroes and Villains was a prolific and painless affair. We're looking forward to getting back out on tour, straining at the leash.”Merv Goldsworthy, FM’s bassist, agrees: “All the songs all came together really quickly and the recording of the album went without a hitch. Once we started getting the mixes back of the first few songs we knew we were onto something. Heroes & Villains is a little rockier and a little more up tempo than Rockville, and that suits me fine! I'm really looking forward to touring this album this year - bring it on!”Guitarist Jim Kirkpatrick confirmed what FM fans already know: “We're on a roll! Some of the tracks on this album are better than anything that the band has ever produced, and Steve’s voice is as good as ever."Keyboard player Jem Davis, who has given the album a retro sheen by incorporating a Moog, Mellotron and a healthy dose of Hammond organ, is equally excited: “The band is on fire and the new album sounds HUGE! I think this is going to be an amazing year for FM!”

Album:

2020 will see the release of FM's twelfth studio album, "Synchronized". To no one's surprise, it is another top notch album that will keep the band's status as one of the premier melodic rock entities firmly in place.Founded in 1984 when singer Steve Overland and his brother, guitarist Chris (both formerly of Wildlife) teamed up with drummer Pete Jupp (ex-Wildlife and Samson) and bassist Merv Goldsworthy (ex-Diamond Head and Samson), the guys were soon joined by Didge Digital on keyboards and by December of that year they had secured a recording contract with CBS/Portrait and headed to Germany for a run of dates with Meat Loaf.Further tours with Tina Turner, Foreigner, and Gary Moore built their momentum and on September 8, 1986, FM released their debut album "Indiscreet" (featuring the hugely popular single "Frozen Heart") to great critical acclaim and the year ended on a high with FM supporting the white-hot Bon Jovi on their "Slippery When Wet" tour. For the next nine years, FM consolidated their position at the forefront of British melodic rock, touring extensively as headliners and also joining bands such as Status Quo and Whitesnake on tours to promote releases such as 1989's "Tough It Out", 1991's "Takin' It To The Streets" (with Andy Barnett on guitar replacing the now-departed Chris Overland); 1992's "Aphrodisiac" (featuring Tony 'Slim' Mitman of Romeo's Daughter on keyboards), and what was to be their 'final' album, 1995's "Dead Man's Shoes" with new recruit Jem Davis (Tobruk, UFO) on keyboards. In 2007 - after a 12 year sabbatical - FM were persuaded to return to the stage for a 'one-off' headline performance at a sold-out Firefest IV at Nottingham Rock City. The rapturous reception from the fans at Firefest led to FM quickly making the decision to record a new album and following a return to Firefest in 2009, in March 2010 FM released their much-anticipated sixth studio album "Metropolis" with Jim Kirkpatrick replacing Andy Barnett on lead guitar. The band haven't stopped since! Headline tours both in the UK and overseas, special guest slots touring with Foreigner, Journey, Thin Lizzy and Heart, festival appearances including Download, Planet Rockstock, Sweden Rock, Graspop, Steelhouse Festival, Frontiers Rock Festival, HRH and HRH AOR, Cambridge Rock Festival, and in 2018 their first ever live show in the US at Melodic Rock Fest 5.When not touring, FM have been busy in the studio and since their 2010 'comeback' album they have released four original albums, a re-recorded version of their debut album, and one live CD/DVD.

Album:

FM are celebrating the 30th Anniversary of their second album “Tough It Out” with the release of a new double live album, "Tough It Out Live". Originally released by Epic Records in 1989, "Tough It Out" broke into the UK Top 40 and saw contributions from songwriting luminaries such as Desmond Child (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, etc.), Jesse Harms, Robin and Judith Randall (Mark Free). The record is understandably regarded as a Melodic Rock / AOR classic and the band played it in its entirety on their last shows of 2019 in the UK and Germany to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release. In addition to the tracks from the "Tough It Out" album, this live release is complemented by a number of tracks which FM have rarely performed live, cherry picked to offer a setlist that gives the discerning fan a great insight into the band’s deeper repertoire.

Album:

March 18, 2022 will see the release of melodic rock stalwarts FM's thirteenth studio album, the appropriately titled "Thirteen". Produced by the band, "Thirteen" is yet another high-quality album that furthers the band’s standing as one of the premiere melodic rock entities in the world. The band's current and longest running line-up, in place since 2008, has spent the last decade plus writing, recording and touring and thus is an incredibly gelled and cohesive unit. The rhythm section of bassist Merv Goldsworthy and drummer Pete Jupp anchor FM with a rock-solid backbone, while guitarist Jim Kirkpatrick delivers delicious hooks and melodies with keyboardist Jem Davis adding lush layers to the band's dynamic sound. And what more could be said about Steve "The Voice" Overland, whose golden pipes have easily withstood the test of time and who still sings like an angel, while adding delightful guitar parts to the proceedings. The five-piece once again bonds together as the mighty unit FM on "Thirteen" and delivers beautiful melodic rock that the fans have come to expect.Founded in 1984 when singer Steve Overland and his brother, guitarist Chris (both formerly of Wildlife); teamed up with drummer Pete Jupp (ex-Wildlife and Samson) and bassist Merv Goldsworthy (ex-Diamond Head and Samson), the guys were soon joined by Didge Digital on keyboards and by December of that year they had secured a recording contract with CBS/Portrait and headed to Germany for a run of dates with Meat Loaf. The band would then go on hiatus, until 2007 when, after a 12 year sabbatical, the guys returned to the stage for a 'one-off' headline performance at a sold-out Firefest IV at Nottingham Rock City. Year : 1987-1988 (1998)

Bio:

FM are a British rock band (referred to as FM UK in North America to avoid confusion with the Canadian band of the same name). They have released thirteen studio albums to date.Three of those, Indiscreet, Tough It Out and 2015's Heroes and Villains reached the UK Albums Chart, whilst five of the band's singles made inroads into the UK Singles Chart.FM was formed in the summer of 1984 in London. Comprising the ex-Samson pair of bassist Merv Goldsworthy and drummer Pete Jupp, the Overland brothers – vocalist/guitarist Steve and lead guitarist Chris Overland (both formerly of Wildlife, where they played with future Ozzy, Johnny Hallyday and Vince Neil bassist Phil Soussan) and keyboardist Philip Manchester (of new wave band The Invaders, also known as Didge Digital), the band initially wrote six songs which by December 1984 had helped them secure a recording contract with the CBS/Portrait label. That same month the band set off on tour in Germany with Meat Loaf. The first UK public appearance of FM (not to be confused with the Canadian band of the same name) was on Valentine’s Day in 1985 at London's legendary Marquee Club. The debut album, Indiscreet followed and their debut single "Frozen Heart" was heard in many venues during 1986.FM hit the road in Europe supporting Tina Turner, Foreigner, Gary Moore, Status Quo and Magnum, also opening for REO Speedwagon at London’s Hammersmith Odeon. At the year's end they accepted a spot with Bon Jovi on the UK leg of their Slippery When Wet Tour.

Album:

After the success of their masterful first album Indiscreet, the British band FM began to work on the new songs that would make up their second commercial release.During the little time that they had between concert and concert, the ideas were emerging within the band and little by little they were counting on a good handful of songs that over the years have become classics of the band and in authentic jewels for all those who longed for a second part of Indiscreet. Time passed inexorably for these giants of Melodic Rock to the point of losing their footing with respect to the record companies that were suddenly overwhelmed by bands like Europe or Bon Jovi penetrating very deeply into the music scene of those years. For this reason, the songs composed by FM between 1986 and 1988 were somewhat out of date to be published. Perhaps it was the reason why his second album Tought it Out was delayed for more than three years and what ultimately caused its commercial failure. What FM created between 1987 and 1988 is within the reach of very few bands. Themes that due to their structure would fit perfectly in a more than worthy continuation of their Indiscreet but that didn't fit at all within the plans of their company Epic Uk who invited them to imitate the style of Europe among many other bands. They were also oriented towards the American market, so the songs I present to you here had no place on their next album. So what happened? FM was giving away extra songs in each of the singles that were published from their first album to the point of almost having a second work prepared. Could they have released an album in 1988? Of course they did, but surely they were not very clear about which way to go or the company took away the idea of publishing a second part of their first album. What happened with Tough it out is already known to everyone. One of the best albums ever published within Melodic Rock would fall into the sack of oblivion, ruining 3 years of hard work by the band, which would have an impact on the departure of Chris Overland & Didge Digital in 1990 and 1991 respectively. What would have happened if in 1988 they had risked publishing Indiscreet II? Well, that they had returned to obtain the favor of the public. Songs like "Like Lovers Do" that Overland would recover from oblivion years later in his project The ladder give a good account of the quality of the songs that they would have offered us. The same happens with "Dangerous" a song that his fans forced to re-record for its quality. Surely most of the songs that I present to you will be more than well known by all good followers of this fantastic group, but we must highlight the hits that should never have remained hidden, such as "Just Can't Stop", "Rebel Eyes", "Who Do You Run To" or "Stay With Me Tonight", four works of art that together with "Let Love Be A Leader" champion this work that was never published and that we hope will one day be recovered since we are facing one of the jewels of the AOR English. Surely between the years 1986-1989 FM were the best band and with the highest quality in the entire United Kingdom in terms of AOR.Everyone knows my weakness towards this formation and especially towards Steve Overland's voice. There are many albums that they have given us and many concerts enjoyed where it has been amply demonstrated that they are an outstanding band both live and in the studio. The magic that FM gave us during the magical 87-89 can never be repeated and it is very difficult for you to find another band with so many unreleased songs lost along the way during the golden years of Melodic Rock.If one day these songs are remastered (not re-recorded as they would lose their magic) and they are published as God intended, we will be facing the dilemma of the century since I assure you that you will not be able to decide which album is better: Indiscreet or Indiscreet II. Blessed dilemma, don't you think?
