The band was born in Genoa in October 1996 and in December of this year came the first demo-tape with four songs: the first versions of "Kingdom", "Out of the Darkness", "The Island" and "Storied Windows". This demo-tape have got a contract soon with "Underground Symphony".The first "Shadows of Steel" line-up was: Wild Steel (vocals), Andrew Mc Pauls (keyboards), Steve Vawamas (bass), Andre la Fisic (guitar) and Gianca (drums).With polite of Frank Andiver and other Labyrinth's members, Shadows of Steel recorded their debute-album at Zenith recordings in Lucca; it saw the light in November 1997.In March 1998 the band have started a new work: a double mini-CD "Twilight". It contains three new songs, a remake of "Fly Away" from latest record and some covers of '80's american metal bands.During recording session Frank Andiver, producer of the first album yet, become officially a member of the band, while Andrew Mc Pauls leaved definitively and got into Labyrinth. This situation skidded "Twilight" went out in December '98. In "Twilight" as special guests have participated Vic Mazzoni (Projecto) at guitars and Andrea "The Tower" Torricini (Vision Divine, Wonderland) at bass.The band stabilized with enterance of two new guitarists: Yackson and Ice Reaven. Shadows of Steel have started a lavoration of a new full-lenghth album "Second Floor", forseen in the first part of year 2000.With the enterance of Francis Scarlet on keyboards the band is complete now and in March 2000 have released a new single "Heroes".

Underground Symphony Records is pleased to announce the return of SHADOWS OF STEEL.The band’s new work will be titled “Twilight II” and will be a sequel, both in content and packaging, to their smash hit “Twilight” released in 1998. Recorded and mixed by Andrew Spane at Dead Tree Sudios in Genoa. The album, in double CD digipack format, will be available starting February 21st.The first single and lyric video “Power of Dreams” will be released in the next few days.Sometimes it's hard to believe that a band like Shadow Of Steel, which belongs to the Italian power metal bands that were born in the late nineties, is still not so well known in the scene, because I feel that with their three studio albums that they have released so far, they have shown that they have talent and quality, but unfortunately, their efforts have been little appreciated by the fans of the genre. One of the greatest qualities I see in Shadow Of Steel, is that it is made up of talented and experienced musicians, as some of them are and others have played in important Italian bands, such as Andrew McPauls (ex Vision Divine, ex Labyrinth), Wild Steel (ex Projecto), Fabio Zunino (ex Projecto), Andrew Spane (ex Graveyard Ghost), Matt Peruzzi (Labyrinth) and Ice Reaven.The adventure of these Italians began back in the late nineties with "Shadows of Steel" (1997), their eponymous album that told the story of a man who goes to an island to be left all alone, this fascinating story is divided into three chapters, his debut album was the first one and represented the Underworld, his Ep "Twilight" (1998), represents purgatory and his second studio album "Second Floor" (2002), was the one that represented paradise, as it is where the man (the character of the story), dies by suicide and finds his lost love in paradise. His work "Crown of Steel" (2013), is also linked to the story, as it talks about the man's past, when he was a king and when he was still alive.His second EP, "Twilight II", is a new chapter with its four songs about the lost soul of man after his death. The album opens with one of their best songs "Call of Shadows" which hits right from the start with that brilliant melodic power that suits Italian bands so well. With its beautiful and powerful melodies the piece tells us how the soul of the dead man is lost in the darkness, all his dreams have been shattered. At one point, he begins to hear voices calling from the darkness, they are shadows of his past friends that will guide him through his last journey. The second song "Broken Mirror" is another impeccable sample of what Shadow Of Steel knows how to do, exquisite power metal, with emboldened keyboards and wonderful choruses. This song tells us about when man is in a strange new world, and through the mirror he will find the way to a new paradise.With more melancholy comes "Shine", a song that shines for its instrumental charm, and for its beautiful chorus that has an air of Avantasia. Its lyrics narrate how the man on his journey contemplates the beauty of the world, leaving behind the sorrows and in order to start a new life. Although I was looking forward to more, we reach the end of the album with "Power of Dreams" a more symphonic piece of art and that thanks to its musical elements draws a more fantastic atmosphere. The power of the guitars command some elegant melodies that grow each time thanks to the keyboards and corral segments. Composition that tells us that for the magic power of dreams nothing is impossible.We all know that Italian bands are specialists in the field of melodic power metal and these Shadow Of Steel, are not the exception, because even if they don't have the same line-up as bands like Secret Sphere or Derdian, with this new work they are able to expose a full melody and an authentic and harmonic power, where the keyboards and the choirs have a specific weight in the four compositions, giving us a wealth of feelings with their elegant musical arrangements.
