Vulture is a German thrash / speed metal band of very recent creation. They have an EP out on 17th June and when you listen to it you just beg for more. And more is coming at the end of this year or beginning of 2017.We live in different cities all across Germany’s Northrhine-Westfalia. The travelling distance between each one of us varies from 100 km up to 300 km, which makes it really hard for us to meet up in order to rehearse.

German metal quintet Vulture are set to release their fourth album Sentinels April 12 via Metal Blade Records.This time around, it hit the trifecta: It’s a monument to metal, a tribute to the bands that paved the way for Vulture’s music, and it might just be the best record the band has released to date.“In direct comparison to the last album, Dealin’ Death, we’ve picked up the pace again noticeably; we’re bolder and a bit wilder again. It was important to us to be catchy and to include choruses that stick. Of course, we’ve basically retained our style, but we’ve defined the framework of the songs more clearly,” says guitarist Stefan Castevet. That’s an understatement.Sentinels is 11 tracks of pure metal worship and a fun record to listen to. It’s pure leather-and-studs rock ‘n’ roll, speed metal forged in the hottest pit of hell. Bear witness to the song “Unhallowed & Forgotten,” and dare tell me otherwise. It’s the perfect bridge between early ’80’s speed and today’s movement that we call the new wave of traditional heavy metal. And Vulture stand at the forefront of it. They might be the best band doing this style of music today, and Sentinels is the document to prove it.Sentinels is the perfect complement to their previous four records and takes their sound, image, and attitude to the next level. Songs like the aforementioned “Unhallowed & Forgotten” as well as “Realm Of The Impaler” snarl with the intensity Baloff brought to early Exodus and the speed and edge of Exciter era Heavy Metal Maniac.The song material on Sentinels isn’t new territory for Vulture, it’s simply the band sounding better than ever doing what comes naturally to them. They’ve taken the heritage of this musical genre and elevated it with both their songwriting and music.Standout tracks on Sentinels include opener “Screams From The Abattoir,” “Unhallowed & Forgotten,” “Realm Of The Impaler,” and “Death Row.” Hell, the entire record is great; there’s not a filler track to be found. I dig Vulture and respect what they’re doing, and it shows through pretty clearly on this record. If you’re a fan of early speed metal and/or the current new wave of traditional heavy metal, you’ll connect with Sentinels. It’s a must-buy.
