The group was born in the mid-1990s, following the meeting of David Clabaux and Philippe Merlen. The band was joined by Daniel Borrowski on drums (ex-Kublaïkan) and Olivier Bourgois (ex-BlackWhite, Kublaïkan) on vocals and Raphaël Cerqueira on bass, who was quickly replaced by Fabien Schmitt. Unable to follow the band on tour, Olivier Bourgois gave way to Ian Gillot (ex-Serum, Absurd Again).The band then played a series of concerts in the north of France as well as in Germany and Poland, and released their first album entitled Reach for the Sky in May 1997 on Blue Lagoon records. After the recording of the album, and before its release, Fabien Schmitt was replaced by Thierry Soyez. The album was well received by the critics.PROJECT takes a break in 2002 before coming back in 2008 with Cédric LEGRAND on bass and Olivier BOURGEOIS on vocals.Olivier leaves the band in 2011 and PROJECT releases "Riding Free" in 2013. Thomas LEGRAND replaces Cédric on bass in 2014 and records "Chapter III" in 2015 which will be accompanied by a live DVD. An acoustic EP is then released in 2019.In 2008, the band decided to play live again, with Jérôme Willocq (ex-Gingerbread) on drums and Cédric Legrand on bass and Olivier Bourgois on vocals. 2009 saw the recording of a nine-track demo (never published in its entirety) of which some songs were used to be integrated on a few websites.In 2010, after many concerts and festivals, the band started recording an album, a recording delayed by many difficulties, the last one being the departure of Olivier in December 2011, at the time of his participation to the recording, preferring to join another band closer to his influences, Rozz. Finally, in early 2013, Project signed with the label Brennus Music for an album entitled Riding Free, released on 29 April 20131. In 2014, Cedric was replaced by Thomas Legrand on bass.In 2015, the band focused on writing and recording their next album Chapter III, which contained 11 tracks as well as a bonus DVD of a concert filmed during the Riding Free tour2. The Chapter III album was released on 29 May 2016 by Brennus Music.On 27 May 2019, the CD 'Off the Road' was released, an acoustic CD revealing a different, more intimate side of the band5.Thomas Legrand took over as bassist in 2020. Valentin Goubet took over shortly before the release of the next album.The release of the album "The Awakening" is scheduled for 27 January 2023.This album contains 10 tracks, however, the CD version contains an additional bonus track.

PROJECT offers us with this album a series of 10 tracks in a relatively traditional hard rock / heavy style.The whole is rather well produced even if we could have done a bit better with a better balance between the instruments, just to be picky. We enter the subject with "Blood Red Moon" with its jerky rhythms.The dynamics are good, but there's a little something missing to give the riffs their intrinsic energy.That's also what you notice on this listen.The ideas of "Down And Dirty" or "Wake Up" are good, but the mix or something else has trouble doing these tracks justice. In addition, there are some weaknesses in the vocals, especially on 'The Spirit'. The accuracy is a bit limited. The placement is also sometimes a bit off, but we've seen worse. Unfortunately, this takes away some of the peachiness that is contained in these tracks. It's a pity, because the rest of the album holds up well. The technical level is quite honourable and the ideas interesting.
