Ancient Machine is a Melodic Hard Rock band from Vancouver/Canada and from Brazil.During the 2020's pandemic, bass player Emerson Tanaka invited the talented Thales Maciel and Kiko DIttert to record some songs. ANCIENT MACHINE started when the bassist EMERSON TANAKA decided to compose songs without any pressure and focused on his musical preferences and beliefs. As no MACHINE could operate alone, he called his friend, great guitar player KIKO DITTERT, to be part of it! After some written ideas, TANAKA remembered about vocalist THALES MACIEL, with whom recorded a song around 2016, and thought he would be a great GEAR to the MACHINE! So, the engine was ready. The ANCIENT MACHINE was turned on with the very first single called EVERY SINGLE DAY! ENJOY!

If you are told that the group Ancient Machine is Canadian, make no mistake. This is merely because Emerson Tanaka (guitar) and Kiko Dittert (drums) live in Vancouver. But they and vocalist Thales Maciel are from Brazil. Geographic details aside, what really matters is that the trio makes a very competent mix of hard rock, AOR and melodic rock. This is the certainty when listening to Distance Between Us, successor of the debut work, which was named after the band in 2021.Before listening to the 11 tracks allow yourself to hallucinate the spectacular album cover. It is yet another masterpiece by Aurelio Lara (Tentacle, Lifeforce, Ampeth, Dosoro, among others). The impressive artwork is directly linked to the title track, which at one point highlights: "somo como ilhas no mar". And, as the band explains, each of us is an individual, but at the same time we are all connected.After feeding your vision with one of the most beautiful covers to appear lately in the world of heavy music, prepare your ears. Don't be fooled by the car that apparently won't start (when the sound rolls you'll understand the pun in the previous sentence). The engine revs and Born To Run takes you down the always pleasant hard rock road.The road continues at a slower speed - but very pleasant - with Mask Of Fate and a beautiful message of persistence, of facing loneliness, depression, hard times. But, who listens paying attention to the lyrical part, will certainly have other valid interpretations.If it is AOR or hard rock there is no way to avoid a ballad, right? So be sure: Separate Ways makes even the most resistant elbows hurt. Gee, Tanaka! Next time, please don't throw the truth so much in the face of those who get the sentimental part wrong.As soon as the title track starts, Maciel makes your longing for Andre Matos increase. At several moments, you feel like you are listening to the late maestro. Similar timbre and interpretation turn into an unprogrammed tribute, which values Ancient Machine a lot. And speaking of influences, the group is not one of those who tries to follow one or two artists to the letter. They follow the standards of the styles I mentioned in the first paragraph, but with the determination to establish their own path.I also mention It's To Late, Time Wasted and Cross The Line among the best songs on the album. And they make me believe even more that Brazilian hard rock bands can also be world references as many national extreme metal groups do.
