Originally founded as THE DRAGONSLAYER PROJECT, the group now known as DRAGONY was created in summer of 2007 by former members of the split-up Austrian Powermetal-Bands OMEGA EFFECT and ELEFTHERIA. After additional members on bass, drums and keyboards had been found, the band began rehearsing for their first live shows which they played in spring 2008. Since then, the band has had a few gigs in Vienna and its surroundings, with local support slots for national and international acts such as EDENBRIDGE, FIREWIND and AXXIS among them. The band's music is heavily influenced by well-known bands of the True- and Powermetal genres such as HAMMERFALL, EDGUY, KAMELOT or NIGHTWISH; with a lot of doublebass, harmonic guitar leads and catchy choruses.After the very successful "Night Of Power 2009" that DRAGONY organised together with ECLIPTICA and that featured SERENITY as a headlining act, as well as local support gigs for PAUL DI'ANNO and most recently, SONATA ARCTICA and MANTICORA, DRAGONY has now recorded their debut album "Legends", which was released in November 2011.The new band logo was designed by Spanish artist Marta De Andrés, who is currently also working on the cover artwork and booklet for the new album:Guests on the debut album include:Ralf Scheepers (PRIMAL FEAR) Tom Tieber (ECLIPTICA) Katarina Bilak (SIREN'S CRY) Thomas Buchberger (SERENITY) Phil Porter (SIREN'S CRY) Van Alen (ECLIPTICA) Sergio Tallo Torres."Legends" was recorded and mixed at WildOneMusic Studios Vienna by Jakob Grabmayr and Frank Pitters, and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios Helsinki.In 2012, DRAGONY promoted and performed at the METAL NATION Tour of PRIMAL FEAR and BRAINSTORM in Vienna Austria.Also, DRAGONY appeared at METALFEST Austria 2012 in Mining am Inn.In May 2012, DRAGONY announced the signing of a worldwide deal with LIMB Music.In October 2012, it was announced that Daniel Stockinger (guit) and Georg Lorenz (keys) have left the band. Simon Saito was announced as new guitar player, and in December 2012, Manuel Hartleb joined the band as a new keyboard player. The second album "Shadowplay" is set for a release on 18th September 2015.

According to Austrian symphonic power metal heroes Dragony and their brand new record "Viribus Unitis", the history of their home country took a completely different turn. What really happened at the time of the last Habsburg ruler of Austria, his wife and their son, the troubled Archduke Rudolf, is revealed by the symphonic power metal six-piece on their fourth full-length "Viribus Unitis". Let's clear the assumption that Rudolph died after trying to take his life at castle Mayerling in 1889. No way! Instead, after his mother Sisi was assassinated in 1898 in Switzerland, he subsequently got in contact with dark powers which, driven by his desire to be with her again, making him turn to black magic and demonology. Now history takes its true (!) course. There are not only zombies and cyper-punks lurking, Dragony also managed to prove further entanglements of well-known personalities you might never imagine.Founded in 2007 and after releasing three studio records, with "Viribus Unitis" Dragony returns to its rock opera roots, following up on the conceptual approach of the debut album "Legends". For the exciting adventure cemented in the upcoming full length, the Austrians around former Visions Of Atlantis singer Siegried Samer were supported by well-known colleagues like Tommy Johansson (Sabaton), Tomas Svedin (Symphony Of Tragedy), Michele Guaitoli (Visions Of Atlantis) and Georg Neuhauser (Serenity) - just to name a selection. Mixing and mastering of the new album was done by Sebastian 'Seeb' Levermanm of Orden Ogan in his Greenman Studios in Germany. Could Dragony's re-writing of history mark a new revelation of hidden truths previously shrouded in fantasy, or was all a dream? Only "Viribus Unitis" tells all!"
