Bio:

Paul Shortino (born May 14, 1953) is an American rock singer and musician who has sung for Rough Cutt/The Cutt, Quiet Riot, Bad Boyz, and Shortino. He briefly recorded with J.K. Northrup as the duo, Shortino/Northrup. He has also recorded as a solo artist, writing and performing the song "E.G.G.M.A.N." as the theme for Dr. Eggman in Sonic Adventure 2 for Sega, and in Shadow the Hedgehog as "E.G.G.M.A.N. Doc Robeatnix Mix". Shortino recorded lead vocals for the Heavy Metal benefit project Hear 'n Aid in 1985. The single from this project, "Stars", also features lead vocals by heavy metal singers Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford, Geoff Tate, Don Dokken, Kevin DuBrow, Eric Bloom and Dave Meniketti.Shortino is currently a member of the band King Kobra, and also performs in the cast of Raiding the Rock Vault at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Tracy Grijalva (born January 3, 1959), known as Tracy G, is an American heavy metal guitarist best known for his time with Dio from 1993 to 1999.His first band was with his father, called the Grijalva Brothers. He had a few guitar instructors when he was little, and was told by one of them that he would have a hard time playing because "his fingers were too small". Grijalva, being the determined musician that he was, would practice until his fingers hurt.Tracy gives credit to Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen) and Donny Simmons (Yankee Rose, Stormer) for influencing his playing, especially referring to Simmons as 'his idol'.He would later play in a variety of bands, including with future member of Great White, Jack Russell. He also put together the bands Love/Hate with singer Jizzy Pearl, and Swift Kick. He would play at almost any club he could find to get his publicity out. He also played with vocalist Rudy Torres and drummer Audie Desbrow (Great White) in Riff Raff, a very popular band around southern California in the early days of hard rock and heavy metal.Tracy then joined Dio. In his six years with the band, Tracy G was featured on two studio albums, (Strange Highways and Angry Machines), and one live album (Inferno: Last in Live). He left the band in 1999 when he was asked to play rhythm guitar while Craig Goldy took lead.[citation needed] Dio decided to bring back Goldy, who had played with him on the Dream Evil album.Tracy G formed The Tracy G Group, which included Jeremy Masana on bass guitar, Donnie Rodriguez on drums and, respectively, Tracy G on guitar.Further, Tracy G is in the band Goad-ed. They have released two albums and Tracy has released numerous solo albums as well.Tracey G. is working with members of Barren Cross in a new project called Gale Force. The album is called subhuman and was released in 2021.

Vincent Samson Appice (born September 13, 1957) is an American rock drummer best known for his work with the bands Dio, Black Sabbath, and Heaven & Hell. Of Italian descent, he is the younger brother of drummer Carmine Appice.Appice took up the drums at the age of nine, taking lessons from the same teacher as his brother Carmine Appice. When he was sixteen, Appice and his band BOMF met John Lennon at Record Plant Studios. Lennon took a liking to the group and used them as a backing band in several performances, including the final one before his death. He moved on to record with Rick Derringer on Derringer (1976), Sweet Evil (1977), and Derringer Live (1977), before forming his own band Axis and recording It's A Circus World (1978).Appice joined Black Sabbath during the tour in support of the Heaven and Hell album in 1980. He was quickly brought in to replace original drummer Bill Ward, who quit the band mid-tour due to personal issues. Appice arrived for his first show with Black Sabbath at the Aloha Stadium in Hawaii with his entire drum kit packed into the back of a car.He was forced to learn the band's songs on stage, using hastily written crib notes for each unfamiliar song. A sudden rain storm made the ink run on Vinny's notes. According to an interview conducted at NAMM in 2012, Vinny stated that at the end of the show during the bows he tossed the notebook into the crowd. Appice subsequently appeared on the Black Sabbath albums Mob Rules (1981) and Live Evil (1982).In late 1982 he left Black Sabbath along with vocalist Ronnie James Dio and formed the band Dio. They recorded Holy Diver (1983), The Last in Line (1984), Sacred Heart (1985), Intermission (1986), and Dream Evil (1987). In December 1989 Appice left Dio and briefly teamed up with Dokken bassist Jeff Pilson in the band Flesh & Blood.

Album:

Both singer Paul Shortino and ex-Dio guitarist Tracy G always wanted to make some music together, and with the excellent return of Rough Cutt and their new album ‘III’, the opportunity raised to record the songs they have been writing for two years. They baptized the band BLUEDAHLIA, inspired by ‘Blue Dahlia’ – an old Alan Ladd movie, then there was another later called the Black Dahlia – and according to both musicians, this kind of leans towards a Heavy Blues Rock. And that’s “BlueDahlia” focus; edgy melodic classic bluesy hard rock, dominated by Shortino impeccable vocals – he born to perform this kind of stuff – and Tracy’s stellar guitar work, plenty of killer riffs and jaw-dropping solos.Hard rock and classic metal fans should be thrilled with this album as it hits all the bases with scorching metal, soulful blues, melodic rockers, and emotional ballads. Shortino is in top form with his trademark vocal style sounding strong throughout this album. Tracy G brings his distinctive style to make this debut something to remember. For fans of either guy’s work or previous bands, this is a must have. The entire album is great, but standout tracks include opener “We Will Rise” that certainly will get your blood flowing, “Never Trouble Trouble”, “Fallen From Grace”, “When Darkness Falls (featuring Vinny Appice on drums) and the soulfully sweet “Sunset Blue”. And they do a killer version of ‘You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me’ by Dusty Springfield! There is a little bit of everything on “BlueDahlia”. To quote David Lee Roth, “They don’t make ’em like this no more”.We definitely want to hear more from this duo as the debut is an intoxicating listen that gets better with each spin. Classic hard rock with ‘that’ feeling and power.
