Sometimes its just not in your hands which cards life plays, but now the band is back to aim for the top.10 years after the band was founded, they are still going strong!Born and raised in munich, the band was discovered by a german label while playing their third show ever as an opening act for german punkrockers Serum114 in 2011. Already in early 2012 the first outcome „Devil’s Dance EP“ was released and the band found themselves touring all over europe as a supportact in big arenas and playing europes biggest festivals like Wacken, SummerBreeze and many more.The following 2 records „Devils Dance“ and „Welcome to Bone City“ could all make their way up to top 100 german album charts! SpitFire is mixing up straight forward california punk, with big stadium choruses, americana, rock’n’roll and many more influences to create their unique heavy rock type of sound!That seems to work out pretty fine as the band is ever since building a huge reputation as a fantastic live band. All that done with no playbacks, no samples, just a rock’n‘roll 3 piece giving all they got. As easy as it is! In 2020 the covid-19 pandemic sets the world on hold. No live gigs, no rehearsals, no fotoshoots. Best time to get back to the studio and do a complete makeover of their third album which was about to be released in early in 2020 but had to be postponed due to several reasons.SpitFire are combining Tom Petty's simplicity with a touch of Social Distortion's cheesiness and the huge wall of guitars of a modern hard and heavy record to create their so far most adult record to time and are about to keep the flame of rock’n’roll alive! Some bands of Hard Rock try the form of fusing the outrageous Punk ‘n’ Roll. The label is mine, to force the insight of the similarity between Rock ‘n’ Roll and Punk Rock in this point) energy with hooking melodies, in a similar way of that used by AC/DC during the 70’s, but with something that can’t be explained with words that makes things ferine and hooking. This is precisely a form of describing German SPITFIRE’s music that is heard on “Do or Die”, their latest album.It seems that Germany is a fertile land for such genre, because this trio isn’t the only band doing it, but the way they play their songs is extremely personal. It’s a Hard ‘n’ Roll form of music with a nasty and melodic energy and an instrumental technique that isn’t so complex, but that works wonderfully. The songs, the melodies, the choruses, everything works in a very good way, creating a form of music that is almost impossible to resist. Yes, it’s very good, indeed.Produced and mixed by Dick Dropkick, and mastered by the hands of Alexander Krull, the sonority of “Do or Die” mixes the modern definition with a nasty and ferocious energy, but always in a way that can be understood and absorbed easily by the listeners. Yes, it’s an excellent work. And by the way: on “Too Much is Never Enough”, the band has Frank Pané (of BONFIRE, SAINTED SINNERS, DARK BLUE, and others) playing the lead guitar.But the band dares to make things on their own, even in an old-fashioned musical way like this. So be careful to get the best during songs as “Ride It Like You Stole It” (a massive and modern Hard Rock, with simple technical work, but with excellent melodies), “Like a Lady” (another great set of melodies, but with massive guitars in a similar way to that used on THE CULT’s best moments on “Sonic Temple” days), “Writings on the Wall” (an accessible song with pretty charming melodies and very good vocals), “Do or Die” (organic and, as the previous one, accessible and charming), “80s Rockstar” and “Death or Glory” (massive and solid rhythmic work from bass guitar and drums on both songs, what improves the musical weight), and… Oh, let’s stop here, because every song is a catchy moment, even on their version for Tom Petty’s “Out in the Cold” (a massive Hard Rock, but in a very personalized way), so you better (and you have to) listen to all the songs.Listen to “Do or Die”, and be hooked by SPITFIRE’s music!
