Bio:

Fahrenheit is an AOR/hard rock band from Carinthia, Austria, that was formed in 1986."We wanted to make an album that you will still enjoy listening to many years from now - without fashionable frills - just pure rock and pop music!" says the young Carinthian band Fahrenheit after finishing the recordings for their debut album "Talking 'bout love".The five met by chance in the summer of 1986 and decided to form a "hellish" band. In June '87 they sent a demo tape to the Newcomer '87 competition of the music trade magazine Tschin Bumm and promptly won. With the debut single "You and I" Fahrenheit managed to enter the Austrian charts and stayed there for more than 3 months.Radio and TV appearances followed and within a very short time the 5 likeable Carinthians had a considerable following behind them. The follow-up single "Danger" also found many fans. A call-up order from the Austrian army to singer Johnny Kanatschnig stopped the band's progress for almost three quarters of a year.Fahrenheit seem almost pedantic when you watch them at work. They compose, produce demos, work out ideas and discard them again. Despite their youth (average age 23), they have considerable musical ability. Johnny, Claudio and Lupo, for example, learned their craft at the conservatory.Fahrenheit want to make their work as perfect as possible and therein lies the reason why they took their time until the release of their debut album "Talking 'bout love" until June 1989."Since we love dear love, we decided to make an entire album about this subject. While we're certainly not the first and certainly won't be the last to talk about it, we can only write songs that directly affect us."With the album's first single, "Turn Me Loose", Fahrenheit create the biggest hit of their career to date.In mid-December '89, the album's title track "Talking 'bout love" is released as the second single and is well on its way to eclipsing all previous successes.Fahrenheit self-confidently call their music "Quality Rock" - Johnny's unmistakable vocal organ has long since become the trademark of an up-and-coming band that even the experts predict a great future for. Even Wolfgang Zink's Austro-rock encyclopaedia said of Fahrenheit: "The Carinthian answer to Europe".

Album:

Amazing debut album.Great album...it sounds like something between Toys of joy and Haywire with Europe melodies.Something every AOR fan should hear. One of the top ten albums in aor hystory in the same vein of Strangeways (walk in the fire) Superb production and wonderful vocals.Austria is hardly the AOR metropolis of the planet and this is the band's one and only album. Fans of Canadians BOULEVARD or other mid-tempo Euro outfits like MYSTERY or CLOUSSEAU will take to Fahrenheit like a thermometer on a cold winters night. If high-tech, smooth AOR is your thing, then this one is likely to get your temperature rising indeed. Included, is a cover of the LOVERBOY staple 'Turn Me Loose' along with other stand out tunes including the irrepressible 'Danger' (this really could be a cover of a BLVD track off their 1988 s/t album), the gorgeous title track 'Talkin' Bout Love' where Johnny Kanatschnig does his best David Forbes (BLVD vocalist) impersonation, while 'Should Have Known Better' is another contender for a BLVD soundalike competition. The keyboards are absolutely killer on this one.Fahrenheit was an Austrian AOR ensemble that featured Johnny Kanatschnig (vocals, guitars), Bernard Groinig (guitars), Claudio Ghidini (keyboards), Mario Kleinberger (bass), and Harold Huber (drums). They released an album entitled "Talking 'Bout Love" in 1989. It is highly sought after in AOR and hard rock circles alike.
